Park Falls Elementary Board Report
October, 2023
Stronger, Together.
October Safety Drill
The October Safety training and drill is the first of two planned Intruder Drills. Each intruder drill includes three parts.
- The first part includes a teacher-led review of the Lights, Locks, and Out of Sight protocols. This covers where in the room is a good location and allows for age-appropriate questions and answers.
- The second part is the actual drill. Over the intercom I will announce, "This is a drill, this is a drill. Lockdown! Locks, Lights and Out-of-site, Lockdown! Locks, Lights and Out-of-site. This is a drill, this is a drill." Administration and police will review all rooms for locked doors, lights out, and listen and look for students. Students will be released one room at a time. This process will take between 15 and 30 minutes.
- The third part of the drill includes a teacher-lead debrief with the students and a principal-lead debrief with the staff.
