Congratulations Lucas Jaeger, Principal, Discovery Early Learning
The Yakima School District announces the hiring of Lucas Jaeger as principal of Discovery Early Learning.
Mr. Jaeger has been the director of special education for the West Valley School District for the past nine years. He oversaw the district's State and Federal Program programs for three and a half of those years. Before being the Director of Special Education, he was a Self Contained Teacher at West Valley High School for eight years. In his recent position, Mr. Jaeger increased opportunities for all students to be successful through work with inclusive and equitable strategies. He led an inclusionary practices team, equity and inclusion workgroup and is currently on OSPI's Special Education Equity Team.
Lucas received his Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Washington University in Education with an endorsement in Special Education. While at EWU, he was a three-year starter for EWU's men's rugby team. He received his Master's Degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University.
Lucas was born and raised in the Yakima Valley to a family of educators. His dad is a retired teacher, principal, SPED director, and current school board member in neighboring West Valley. His mom is a retired Speech Language Pathologist. His wife, Ashley (a former teacher at Adams Elementary), works for The Alliance Church. They have three children, Carson (10), Kensington (9), and Avin (7).
