Take a Peek into AICE English Language
Let's take a look at the awesome things happening in Mrs. Royer's AICE English Language class. In the video below you will see her students implementing their understanding of structure, language, and style for a specific audience and purpose. First, the students read a news article about a haunted location and annotated and analyzed the structural and language features.
Then, the students had to use the article to draw inspiration and plan out a leaflet, including language, structure, and style features. The purpose of the leaflet was to convince audiences to spend the night in a haunted location of their choice.
The AICE objectives in place are: a) to read and understand a variety of texts b) to write effectively, creatively, and accurately for a range of audiences and purposes, and c) to analyze how form, language, and structure produce meaning and style. The BEST Standard is to analyze the impact of multiple structures. Great work, Mrs. Royer! Thank you for sharing! We hope you enjoy the video below.
