We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on some remarkable students who have truly exemplified the trait of "Fairness" throughout the month of January. Their dedication to treating others with equity and impartiality has contributes positively to our school environment and is an example to others. Congratulations to our January Fairness Ambassadors!
Learning Spotlights
Biology Lab
Middle school students had the opportunity to engage in a hands-on exploration of amphibian anatomy. Their memorable experience helped foster a deep appreciation for biology and discovery.
Book Club: Wonder
We had so much fun comparing the book "Wonder" to the movie! Thank you to everyone who donated the yummy treats.
PTO Family HUB Day

Parent Meeting for Middle School Feb. 8th
Learning Showcase
Are you as excited as we are to celebrate learning at SVLA?. Bring in your 2nd quarter projects for the upcoming Learning Showcase!
Set-Up is Feb. 5th-7th Project Walk is Feb. 8th-15th
Examples of Student Work Displays:
• Book reviews
• Examples of writing
• Artwork
• Science investigations
• Social Studies projects
• Student Choice – students select work they wish to display that shows their best effort with a short explanation of why they are proud of it.
Examples of criteria:
• “We Feel Proud” moments
• The work is important to us, because….
• The work shows our best efforts, not just perfect work
• The work shows improvement (Consider sharing drafts + final copies)
Tabletops will be available for the displays. Any electronic displays need to be battery operated--if you are showing a laptop video, for example, you will need to charge your battery beforehand. If you need any basic art supplies, please contact your consulting teacher.
Third Quarter Workshops Begin Monday, Feb. 5th
Q3 workshop dates are: Feb. 5, 12, 26; March 4, 11, & 18.
Workshops begin at 11:20AM at SVLA. Pick-up time for students attending PE workshops at the HUB is 1:15PM.

Our incredible school counselor, Mrs. Puzankov, is an absolute rockstar here at SVLA! 🌈Need advice? She's got you covered! Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Mrs. Puzankov's calm and caring nature is the perfect remedy. 🤗 Mrs. Puzankov is the ultimate listener! No problem is too big or small for her to help with--she'll turn your frown upside down! 😊 Beyond being our go-to for guidance, Mrs. Puzankov is a cheerleader for all of us. She believes in each and every one of us, pushing us to reach for the stars. 🌟 So, next time you see Mrs. Puzankov in the hall, give her a high-five or a big smile. She's the heart and soul of our SVLA family, making our school an even more awesome place to be!

Feb. 8: 10:40am Dismissal for Middle School students.Project walk in the hallway, come talk to teachers as third quarter begins.
Feb 8-15: Learning Showcase project walk. (Set-Up for displays is from Feb. 5th-7th.)
Feb. 19 PRESIDENTS DAY, no on-site classes today.
Feb. 20: Monthly Reporting for home-based learners is due on the 20th of the month.

March 7: Building-wide Open House for district families. If you know anyone who might be interested in alternative learning options, invite them to this event. We'll be hosting a building tour and informal Q&A for 2024-2025 enrollment at CVVL or SVLA (additional details to follow).
