From the Thompson Administration Team
Hello Thunder Families!
Can you believe we are nearly half way through the 4th quarter of school? The 4th Quarter mantra for our Thunder students will be “Finish Strong!” As we enter into the final 5 weeks of school, it is important for all of us to do our very best to see the year through to a productive, enjoyable finish. For three plus quarters, your children have worked hard to build their knowledge base and to show what they know. Our hope is that each of our students will give their best effort through to the very end of the year. The final quarter of the school year is an opportunity for students to really shine and put three quarters of learning into a solid spring push.
Additionally, this is a great time in the quarter for parents and students to review coursework and grades to determine successes and challenges. If your child is in need of support, it is important to communicate with your child’s teacher. They will be able to provide you insights on your child’s classroom experience and learning, and they can look to provide support for your middle schooler as they conclude this school year.
A quote that resonates for me is, "Whatever we believe about ourselves and our ability comes true for us." — Susan L. Taylor. As parents and teachers, we all need to encourage our young adults to do their very best and believe in themselves.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Michelle

2023-2024 Thompson PTO Board Officers' Election
The purpose of the Thompson Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is to facilitate communication between Thompson teachers, administrators/staff, parents and guardians; to support the efforts of Thompson teachers in providing quality learning experiences and resources for students; to endorse activities that generate school spirit and school pride; and, to recognize the academic accomplishments of Thompson students.
Parents and guardians whose student(s) are attending this school and the faculty and staff of Thompson Middle School are all members of the PTO.
The PTO is comprised of 4 elected Board positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer), dozens of non-elected committee chairs, and numerous volunteers. At this time, we are electing Board officers for the 2023-2024 school year.

Thompson Yearbooks
Every year, the Yearbook Club publishes a Thompson yearbook. Students who decide to purchase a yearbook are given this keepsake at the end of the school year. Buying a yearbook is optional and not all students choose to own one. The price of the yearbook is $25.
Have you ordered a Thompson 22-23 Yearbook? You can check your PushCoin account to see if you have purchased one by going to 'transactions' and then adjusting the start date back to July 1, 2022. Also, we have a list of all students who will be receiving a yearbook posted on the wall by the cafeteria. Contact Kim Walters (kimberly.walters@d303.org or 331-228-6410) if you have any questions or need financial assistance.
A reminder from the school nurse…
State legislation requires that all Illinois children in sixth grade will have a dental examination. A licensed dentist must perform the examination, and he or she shall sign the form. Dental offices should have the form available, but it is also available online at www.d303.org under Departments, then Health Services, then “Health Documents and Forms”. Each 6th grade student must present proof of a dental examination by a dentist prior to May 15, 2023. The exam must be dated within 18 months prior to May 15, 2023. If your child has had an exam already, you can ask your dentist to complete the form for the exam.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has established a waiver for children who show undue burden or lack of access to a dentist. Parents or legal guardians who object to the dental examinations on religious grounds shall present to the school a signed, detailed statement of the objection.
The deadline is quickly approaching! Please submit this if you have not already done so. If you have any questions, please contact the TMS nurses:
