It was another week full of sunshine and phenomenal learning experiences for our students at Fletcher. You can see for yourself below. Stay tuned next week for an announcement about the return of "Java with Jeff", a monthly family forum hosted by our Principal, Mr. Friedenberg. On Wednesday our UTK-2nd grade teachers attended a professional development session to learn more about a phonics program pilot we're receiving for FREE. After decades of research, experts are learning that a more balanced approach to learning to read with direct phonics instruction sets students up for a lifetime of success. We're so excited to dive into this work.

Our incredibly generous PTA approved the purchase of brand new school spirit T-Shirts for every student and staff member! A suggested donation of $10 per shirt will help offset the costs, but is not required. Check out the sample. Please fill out the form below to select the shirt size for your student before Monday, January 30th. Otherwise, we'll make out best guess at your child's shirt size. Parent's can order one for $10 using the same link.

Our Student of the Week is Ximena in Mrs. Wilsie's 2nd Grade Class. Ximena is lucky enough to speak two languages and has helped her friends who need it. Ximena has a gentle kindness about her that makes her a friend to everyone. She is also constantly willing to help and do her best. One of the things we love best about Ximena is she always uses her "I can" brain even when things are hard. We can always count on Ximena and her friends feel the same way. Way to go, Ximena! Thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!

Today is a bittersweet day at Fletcher Elementary. Our beloved paraeducator, Ms. Maria Rubio, will be moving on to Emerson Elementary next week. We are so grateful for all the hard work and dedication she has shown to all of our students on a daily basis. She will truly be missed, but her legacy will live on here through the successes of the students fortunate enough to have worked with her. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon. Thank you Ms. Rubio, for everything.
