CISD Tech Weekly Update
Week of Monday, October 30 - Friday, November 3rd, 2023 ๐
Dear Teachers & Staff,
Please read the spooky facts about hackers and your email! We have to keep our cybersecurity radar on at all times.
Thank you for helping us keep our school secure!

Tech Tips For the Week:
Tech Tip # 1: CYBERSECURITY THREAT:
Just a reminder that school email addresses are like gold for hackers. An attacker sends a message hoping to trick you into clicking on a link to deploy malicious software or asking you to enter your username and password, so they can steal it. Both our Microsoft and Gmail emails have EXTERNAL notifications to alert you that the email came from outside our district.
External Alert Microsoft Example
Check out this scam email that made it past the Microsoft filter. Notice the sender's email address, and more than likely, if I open the attachment, it will prompt me for username and password to Office 365.(Click on the image to zoom.) If you are unsure of am email, check the address of the sender, and ask a tech team member. We are always glad to help!
For Study Island Users:
Tech Tip # 2: Have you reviewed the NWEA Study Island report? This report allows you to view the results of a studentโs Learning Path. Click on School Reports>NWEA MAP Link Report (Bottom right)>Fill in Class>Student>Subject. This report will show you what grade level per standard that a student is working on. You will not be able to edit the NWEA MAP Learning Path, but you can create assignments that can fill in gap areas. See next tip!
Tech Tip #3: Use the CONTENT SEARCH feature in Study Island to make assignments to practice specific standards. Watch this short video to easily learn how to search and assign content from the Content Search page.
