Plymouth Public School's Heart Health Week - Aiden's Story

This week through collaboration with the Juvenile Probation Department, PYDC set up PhotoVoice (Boys & Girls Club Project, 2018) at the Plymouth Trial Court. In addition, staff at Plymouth South High School received training from Ed Jacoubs (Plymouth County DA's Office) on the impact of trauma on youth. The training focused on how to help schools increase trauma-sensitivity.

Musket Day at the Museum, presented by the New Plimmoth Gard
Costumed re-enactors brandish pikes, swords and muskets to commemorate the start of Plymouth's 1st colonial militia.

Tuesday, February 19th | 1 - 2pm
Puppets & Pilgrims
See handmade Pilgrim puppets and learn the art of making puppets come to life in a workshop presented by Gerwick Puppets. Suitable for children ages 7 and up.

Wednesday, February 20th | 1 - 2pm
Fairy Story Time & Wish Catchers Crafting
Jane Kelly of Keyhole Studio shares fairy stories and guides participants in creating magical Wish Catchers to catch your wishes and hold them tight. Appropriate for all ages.

Thursday, February 21st | 1 - 2pm
Learn to Spin
See demonstrations of spinning on a traditional wheel with artisan Linda Doll, and learn how to spin on a Q-tip! Suitable for children ages 7 and up.

Individual admission for children up to age 18 is FREE during vacation week.

All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Shop Shout Out - PNHS MARKETING 11

Texas Roadhouse site visit was the culmination of the material learned in the first semester. The Marketing 11 students enjoyed the trip and many were unaware of the marketing positions available in restaurants such as Texas Roadhouse. The students were surprised to learn that this restaurant has two employees who just handle marketing in the Plymouth community.

Spreading Kindness

This week at the preschool we have been talking a lot about kindness. When a teacher notices a student doing something kind, they are given a heart to put on our kindness wall. Students have been busy making valentines and making heart crafts for Valentines Day. In Miss Meaghan’s class students took turns giving and taking a rose to each other.


In Miss Merry’s class they had teddy bear day! The students counted and sorted with bears. Students also went in a “bear cave” with their teddy bears.

YMCA Program - Cold Spring Elementary School

Wingmasters

The second grade students at FFES enjoyed the cultural arts program, “Wingmasters” with Jim Parks! This program was very educational and inspiring to all! The students learned about various birds that were injured and will eventually be released back in the wild. It was a “HOOT”!

Realistic Fiction stories

Students in Mrs. Drollett’s 2nd grade class put the final touches on publishing their “Realistic Fiction” stories and added a dedication page and an author page as well. The students enjoyed sharing their beautiful stories with the kindergarteners in Mr. Pease’s class!

First grade Arts Integration

Hedge School First Grade Students celebrated their Arts Integration project with their families. Families enjoyed hearing the children sing songs and see art work created with the theme of LOVE. They also had an opportunity to read the amazing poetry their first graders wrote. To end the event, families created Valentine's Day cards together.

We all Swim Together

Jill Duggan organized a series of assemblies to follow her initial kick off of the IBES PBIS initiative pride, power and performance. The theme: share your unique story and personality to build unity and understanding for each other. Mutual respect fosters pride that leads to personal power and greater performance in school. It mirrors Ms. Manfredi’s motto: We may be all different fish, but in this school we swim together.



Each grade level wore their grade level colors and listened to different grade level presentations. Featured presenters were, V.P Courtney Triffletti, Guidance Nikki Quinlan, Assistant Superintendent Patricia Fry, Lunch Supervisor Caryn Eaton, School Psychologist Corinne Monty and by way of video, Superintendent Gary Maestas. Lynn Findlay, who welcomes everyone to IBES at the front desk, made fish bowls for each grade level.

Indian Brook would like to thank Jill for her thoughtfulness and dedication to make these assemblies a success.

MES Students Research Deep Space Images

This past month, students from Mrs. Cavicchi’s 5th grade science classes had the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with Insight Observatory.


Students were paired up to work together to research different celestial bodies. Their assignment was to become “class experts” and then share their knowledge with each other. Students spent time researching their choice of a galaxy or nebula. They gathered information, created a Google Slide presentation, and then shared it with their classmates.


All their hard work paid off when the remote telescope in New Mexico captured images of each student’s celestial body. Their excitement was beyond anything we could have imagined. When the students started this project, they had very basic knowledge of space, and did not have a clear understanding of how vast space really is. While researching, the children’s curiosity grew tremendously to discover the depth of space exploration.

Art with PNHS Seniors

First grade students at Nathaniel Morton Elementary School in Ms. Tala Wunderler-Selby's art class has some special visitors help them with a project that combined art with social-emotional learning. Plymouth North High School students Ruby Norris, Gigi Delano, and Eddie Payzant designed the lesson for their senior project. They worked with students to create sock puppets using a variety of fun materials, like buttons, yarn, glitter glue, and felt. Each student chose a different emotion to represent with their puppet, such as happy, sad, excited, or angry. Students had the chance to present their puppets and talk about the emotion they chose. The first graders were very happy to have the high school students come and work with them, and loved making their own puppet. A big thank you to Ruby, Gigi, and Eddie for their hard work!

Second grade students in Ms. Jitiam, Mr. Ozelius, and Mrs. Willis' class continue their Kindness Project by making special valentine's.

HeartSavers CPR

A new after school class has started at PCIS with Nurse Educator, Judy Duarte - HeartSavers CPR!


A grant was recently awarded to Nurse Judy through the Plymouth Education Foundation to give students the opportunity to take a HeartSavers CPR course now through May after school. Students learn adult, child and infant CPR as well as how to safely operate an automated external defibrillator (AED).


Thank you PEF and Nurse Judy for providing students with such an important learning experience!

team passion project

As part of a team passion project, 6th grade students Eliza Morgan, Lilly Morse, and Sophia Lasnicki decided to participate in a kindness rocks initiative. To spread happiness throughout the school community, the girls collected stones, painted them with words of encouragement, and created an inspirational display. They even took pictures of their favorite rocks, attached those photos to magnets, and gave them out as locker decorations. The ladies are quick to recognize Mrs. Ste Marie (who works as an ambassador for the Kindness Rocks project) for all of her help.

AP Information Night

Advanced Placement Information Night highlights the advantages and challenges of Advanced Placement classes. Students and parents heard a short presentation from North and South guidance departments and then had an opportunity to discuss specific classes with AP teachers and current AP students.


We encourage all students to stretch themselves academically throughout high school, and Advanced Placement courses can provide that essential challenge!

To Attend Stonehill

Congratulations to Jillian Callahan who had an official signing to attend Stonehill College. Jillian will continue with track and field and we wish her the best!

KIDS N' BOOTS

As part of the National Global Challenge Plymouth South's Marketing class sponsored the collection of over $300.00 worth of boots to be donated to the Salvation Army's Kids N' Boots program.
