Update on New State Mandate
Dear TVUSD Stakeholders,
Earlier today, Governor Gavin Newsom laid out specific criteria for the reopening of schools in California. The mandate includes that schools located in counties on the monitoring list must not physically open for in-person instruction until their county has come off the monitoring list for 14 consecutive days. Currently, 32 of the state's 58 counties are on the monitoring list. Riverside County is on the current list. For the Governor's latest update, please click here.
TVUSD's administrative staff will provide an update to the Governing Board on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, to discuss the impacts of today's decision and the new mandate from the Governor. The update will include recommendations and details for the opening of the 2020/21 school year in an online learning format. The board agenda and meeting details, including the meeting's live stream access, will be available on the following webpage.
TVUSD staff has been working diligently over the past couple of months to prepare for every outcome and phase of reopening, including online learning. Because of this work, we will be able to offer our students a robust and rigorous online learning environment when we start school. Our online learning model will be vastly different from the emergency distance learning we quickly pivoted to in March when schools initially closed physically.
We want to continue to thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to adjust and pivot based upon the criteria and mandates from the state and public health authorities. Our next communication will be provided following the Board meeting on July 21, 2020.
