PTO Fundraiser Kick-Off
Throughout the school year, the PTO provides funds to all three elementary buildings, as well as individual teachers for a variety of different projects. They also sponsor various activities including the Holiday Gift Shop and annual Staff Appreciation Luncheons. In order to continue doing these things, the PTO holds one fundraiser each school year. Information regarding this year’s fundraiser is coming home with your child today. The sale goes through October 2.

"Go for the Gold" Reading Incentive Program
Eagle Lake “Go for the Gold” reading incentive program for the 2023-2024 school year begins on Monday, September 18! Eagle Lake supports and encourages students in reading, both in and out of school. We believe that reading skills are built like other skills through practice, practice and more practice! Please encourage your child to take part in this program.
BOOK NOOK
Students began borrowing books this week. Please make sure water bottles are either empty or put in a separate area of the backpack than library books and Chromebooks. We had a few water bottle floods last year that ended in ruined materials. We appreciate your help in preventing accidents!
RR starts next week. These are books students read and then take a comprehension test on the computer. Correct answers earn points. As students reach their point goals set by the teacher, they get a token for a book from the vending machine. Each quarter there are also group incentives for those who have worked hard to reach their goals.
Happy Reading!

Recess Games
We are onto week 2 of our recess unit! This week, students learned how to use the circle of choice at recess and learned how to play 4-square. They also started doing their fitness testing. This year they will do a sprint test and a trunk lift test.
Please make sure that your child has PE shoes when they come to class. Crocs, Hey Dudes, sandals, and boots pose a safety issue and mark up the gym floor.
Have a great weekend!

Transportation
The EPS Transportation department has a great responsibility for ensuring the safety of children. Last minute changes to a student’s transportation schedule increases the chance that a child may not end up going to the proper and intended location. Last minute changes are highly discouraged!
Any change to a child’s normal dismissal routine adds a great deal of responsibility to the office staff, teachers, and drivers and result in unnecessary interruptions to classroom instruction. Please send a note to your child’s teacher AND call the school office AND call transportation before 2:00 p.m. when a change is necessary. Change requests made after 2:00 p.m. will not be honored. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Supervision at Athletic Events
All elementary students must be accompanied by an adult at Edwardsburg athletic events. Please do not drop your child off and leave. In addition, students should not be under the bleachers and are not allowed to play games (football, tag, etc.) behind the end zone or other areas of the stadium. For their safety, they are expected to remain seated in the bleachers throughout the entire contest.
