4-H Meats Judging Opportunity
The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) is hosting 3 virtual meat judging contests this fall for 4-H students. Registration for each contest is required with a cost of $25/student. Any number of students can participate, with the top 3 individual scores counting toward the county βteamβ score. There is no pre-qualification necessary as these contests are open to all students.

Application Fee Waiver Event Oct 1-18, 2020
From Oct. 1 to Oct. 18, you can apply to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for free. Nebraska will waive the $45 application fee for all resident first-time freshmen and transfer students who wish to apply for the Fall 2021 term. To apply to Nebraska for free, you should enter NUforNE in the Application Fee Waiver Code field at the end of Nebraskaβs application at go.unl.edu/apply-now. This year, we know that it may be difficult for you to take the ACT or SAT because of public health concerns. To support students, the University of NebraskaβLincoln is test-optional for both university admission and scholarships.

Submit the Achievement Application for 4-H Scholarships
The state-level Nebraska 4-H Achievement Application is the avenue through which the Nebraska 4-H Foundation awards numerous scholarships to Nebraska 4-H youth. If you are a 4-H member between the ages of 15 and 18 of the current year, please consider applying! Based on past years your odds of winning a scholarship are very good. The application is also a standard application form used for the selection of state award winners, including Nebraska delegates to National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference.

Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Update Session Offered in Broken Bow October 24th
A Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Update Session is scheduled for late October in Broken Bow. It will be held October 24th at the Custer County Fairgrounds in Broken Bow. The early bird deadline to register for the Broken Bow training is October 14th.
The time has come to provide an update for all Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Instructors who received their training in 2013 or before. Over the years there have been numerous curriculum changes, updates and additions, with some major curriculum adjustments in the last few years.

Adventure Day Camps with Douglas Sarpy Extension
- October 10, 16, 17 & 31
- Open to all youth ages: 6-14
- Location: Schramm State Recreation Area. Time: 9:00am β 5:00pm, optional extended evenings.
Nebraska 4-H school year camps provide a wonderful opportunity for youth to get away from it all and spend quality time connecting with nature and the great outdoors while they have days off from school or are on school breaks. We're proud to partner with Douglas-Sarpy County Extension 4-H Youth Development to offer science-based school-year day camps. Through these experiences, youth have the opportunity to explore the natural world at Schramm State Recreation Area. These day camps allow youth to connect with friends while enjoying their natural surroundings. Shout Out to Harrison!
Congratulations to Harrison Koehn who qualified for the Regional History Bee sponsored by International Academic Competitions. Harrison will compete in the Middle School Regional History Bee on October 18. Winners will advance to the National History Bee. Harrison is an 8th Grader at Elmwood Murdock School and a member of the Cass County Creative Cats.
