Greetings Featherbed Lane Families!

I am so excited to open the doors of Featherbed Lane and welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. Staff throughout Baltimore County have worked hard this summer to prepare our school to welcome students. Our teachers and the administration have worked diligently this summer to plan for the return of students. There are many new updates that I'm excited to share with you! As you visit you will notice our welcoming lobby as you enter through the front doors of our building. Our gym floor has been repainted and our stage refinished. The library shelves and carpet have been replaced, and new furniture is arriving soon. We are planning a grand re-opening of the library in the coming weeks! We have a brand new boiler to keep us warm in the cold months. Our roof has been going through needed repairs, and our building has received updated painting upgrades to the front and back awnings as well as classrooms.

I want you to know that as your principal, it is important to me that Featherbed Lane is a school we are all proud of! I have two children. One son who is still in college and one son who has graduated from college. As I walk around the building, the lenses in which I view all facilities, interactions, behavior, and instruction is "how would I feel if my boys were sitting in this class?" I will advocate for Featherbed Lane to be the best! If you have a question or something you want to discuss, please reach out to me!

We will welcome students in grades 1-3 to the gym to meet their teachers. Students will be lining up by class to meet their teacher and then walk to their classrooms together.

Students in grade 4 & 5 will meet their teachers in the cafeteria. These students will eat breakfast in the cafeteria and then will be escorted to their classrooms by their teachers. Parents are welcome in the gym or cafeteria to take pictures and meet the teachers. All families will enter through the front entrance of the school building.

Car Riders:

Car Riders for arrival and dismissal will be on the Woodlawn Drive entrance to the campus only. (Please note that this is for ALL students daily) *If you are dropping your child off after 9:20, you may drop off via the Richardson Road entrance.

Car Rider applications will come home with students on Tuesday so that Car Rider numbers can be assigned. Please be patient with staff as numbers are assigned.

Bus Riders:

Our buses will enter via Richardson Road. We are asking for the transition of arrival of buses and staff members that all families dropping students off, conduct drop off in our car loop.

On Tuesday, Sept 3rd every bus rider will get a color band attached to their book bag that will identify their bus. We will have adults board the buses in the morning to place bands on book bags. Extra bands will be available to classroom teachers if your child does not ride the bus in the morning on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we will have a bus stationed at Featherbed Lane for the day. Each bus rider will have an opportunity to board the bus during the day to review bus safety.

On Tuesday, Sept 3rd your student's teacher will send home a Take Home folder with information for you to return. After this week, this Take Home folder will come home each Thursday with information and graded work.

Please contact Nurse Lynn if your child needs to take medication at school. All medication needs to taken with signed permission. Thank you for your cooperation.
