Week In Review and a Look Ahead:
Friday, September 29, 2023
Principal's Message
As we close out another week, it's amazing to see how quickly the time is passing. On Monday, October 2, 8th graders who are taking Health or Business class will switch classes for the remainder of the trimester. For 7th and 6th graders, this change will occur on Wednesday, October 4.
Please be on the lookout for PSSA parent score reports that are being given to all students who took the tests last spring. Your child will be given this report on Monday, October 2 with the directive to bring it home to their parent/guardian.
I have received a few questions the past several weeks about our lunch structure, and have developed a letter regarding the status of the cafeteria. I have been very pleased to see the improvements regarding overall behavior in our cafeteria from last year and are pleased that our grade levels have either already achieved open-table choice, or a very close to doing so. Please click HERE for more information.
Student Helpers!
We've seen some fantastic volunteering occur in our halls and cafeteria the past several weeks. Several students have taken a few minutes each day during an open period to help clean up around the school and are certainly making a difference! Thanks to Lilian Fields and Nia Toth for their consistent service the past several weeks, along with the help of Kylie Kubicek, Shelby Casey, Kathryn Cerva, Auri Cardilla, and Ms. Wallace. In addition, 6th grader A.J. Taviana has gone above and beyond helping to keep our cafeteria clean whenever possible! Thank you for your help!

Library Fundraiser - West 122 vs. East 93
As a library fundraiser, Brakeman's Cafe is offering a specialty drink- the liBEARian latte. 🐻 It’s a delicious latte with chocolate drizzle, brown sugar, and honey. It can be ordered hot or cold. A dollar from the sale of each drink will benefit the middle school libraries. You can vote East or West. Mrs. Mento is going to buy more Rubik's Cubes for the East library so that students can build larger more complex mosaics. West is going to buy bracelet materials and puzzles. We are working together to build community in our school libraries.
West is in the lead by almost 30 LiBEARian lattes. The fundraiser will continue through the month of October. Thank you in advance for supporting our school library.
