What is School Council? Georgia’s A+ Education Reform Act of 2000 required that school councils be established at every public school by October 1, 2003. School councils are policy-level advisory bodies to the Principal, Superintendent, and local board of education. They may advise and make recommendations on any matter related to school improvement and student achievement. The purpose of school councils is to “bring communities and schools closer together in a spirit of cooperation to solve difficult education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents into the school-based decision-making process.”

Meeting dates are below and the will held virtually. Zoom links to the meetings will be sent out in the Parents Weekly Newsletter the week before each meeting. Your attendance is welcome.

**Please note that meeting dates and times are subject to change. However, notification will be sent if such changes are necessary.

Please be certain that you are following all guidelines when you are dropping off and picking up your child. With more than 700 students who learned virtually last year returning to in person schooling this year, we expect the car line to be especially busy. Please make sure that your child knows if they are going to be a Car-Rider for parent pick up or a Bus Rider during dismissal.

Children may be dropped off beginning at 8:15 am. Please avoid arriving early as this causes our parking lots to be blocked so that teachers are not able to get to their classrooms to welcome students.

Afternoon pick-up will begin at 4:05 pm. Again, please avoid arriving prior to 4:00 pm as this blocks the driveway and parking lot. We expect unusually long lines this year and encourage families to take advantage of bus transportation. After-school pick-up is near the gym area.

FOR SAFETY REASON, WE ASKED THAT YOU PLEASE REMAIN IN YOUR CAR DURING AFTER-SCHOOL CAR RIDER PICK UP. IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE GO TO THE FRONT OFFICE AND SOMEONE WILL ASSIST YOU.

Please be courteous to our staff who are on Car Rider duty as they want to ensure the safety of your child and other children. Again, thank you for your patience.

• If your child is showing symptoms, please do not send them to school. Please take your child temperature before they leave for school. IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK, KEEP THEM AT HOME.

What is Digital Citizenship? According to Digital Citizenship, digital citizenship is “how we should act when we are using digital tools, interacting with others online, and what should be taught to help the next generation be better stewards of this technology.” Currently, all of our students are learning about Digital Citizenship. Please ask your child what they have learned so far about Digital citizenship.

PARENTS, CELLPHONES ARE A HUGE DISTRACTION TO THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. TO ASSIST US WITH THIS, WE ASK THAT ALL STUDENTS TURN THEIR CELL PHONES IN TO THEIR HOMEROOM TEACHER EACH DAY. BY DOING THIS, THE PHONE IS SAFE AND LEARNING CAN CONTINUE WITHOUT INTERRUPTIONS. STUDENTS WILL GET THEIR PHONES BACK AT THE END OF THE DAY.
