We will be focusing on gratitude and kindness during the month of November here at RBS. Our staff and students have continued to impress by working hard and having fun doing it! We are extremely grateful for the PTA as they have continued to offer so many awesome opportunities to our students. The Scholastic Book Fair was a huge hit as students made purchases during their lunch periods. The 5th & 6th grade Pumpkin Decorating event was extremely fun, and the PTA supplied gift cards for the winning pumpkins. Family Math Night was very well attended, so thank you to Ms. Lynch, the teachers, and student volunteers. We look forward to honoring our veterans during the upcoming BEA Veterans Breakfast. The PTA will be running an 8-week acting workshop focusing on scene study, monologues, and improvisation; information was sent through a Blackboard email. Also, the RBS Student Council is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the local food pantry. Grade levels will compete in a contest to collect the most items, and the winning team gets to tape Mrs. Papa to the wall of the cafeteria during their lunch period! We want to extend warm wishes to our RBS families as we approach the holiday season. We hope you get the time to connect with family and friends, and we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! Here’s a list of upcoming events at RBS:
RBS Picture Day - 11/10
BEA Veterans Day Breakfast - 11/11 at 9am Memorial Field
Class of 2026 Open House at BHS - 11/17 at 6:30pm
Early Dismissal Thanksgiving Holiday - 11/24
Butler High School - Mr. R. Fitzgerald, Principal
BHS had a busy month of October in the classrooms and on the fields. We had a very successful Military Appreciation Night and Homecoming Dance this past weekend. We had over 200 students attend the dance and it was great to see the students having fun at a school dance again. Thank you to athletic director Derek Hall, and teachers Lisa Reda and Jill Caruso for organizing these events.
Our football team won 31-20 and we had 15 veterans and their families in attendance from the Butler Community.
Congratulations to our boys and girls soccer team for both qualifying for the state tournament. Our football team also has a great chance of qualifying; we will find out more information on that after this week's game!
For School Violence and Vandalism Week and Red Ribbon Week we had several theme days and activities at BHS. On Wellness Wednesday, we provided a relaxing atmosphere in the Health room for students to decompress and destress during their lunch. We will continue to host Wellness Wednesday’s in the future. For Red Ribbon Week, Mrs. Szabo was able to speak to Health classes about the dangers of vaping. We also hosted Red Ribbon Trivia in the cafeteria. Students were able to spin the wheel for substance abuse trivia and win a prize! We had many students participate!
