FMS Families,
As we dive into the first full week of September, let's set our sights high and our goals even higher. This month marks a fresh start and a chance for our students to achieve academic greatness.
Encourage your students to embrace challenges, ask questions, and seek help when needed. Together, we'll foster an environment of growth and learning. Let's make this week a stepping stone toward academic success and a brighter future.
Here's to a week filled with hard work, dedication, and the joy of discovery. We're in this together, and together, we'll achieve great things!

Morning Drop Off
We are introducing a new morning drop-off procedure to prioritize student safety. This change aims to create a smoother and safer experience for everyone.
Enhanced Safety, Streamlined Experience:
Our goal is a safe and efficient morning drop-off. We're shifting from two lanes to one, maximizing our drop-off space and streamlining the process for better results.
Single Lane Process:
Please pull vehicles as forward as possible in the designated area to optimize curb space. This change accommodates more vehicles and speeds up drop-offs.
Safety First:
Instead of dropping off directly where students walk to the rear of the building, they might need to take a few additional steps in that direction. We're confident that the safety advantages of this change outweigh the short-term adjustment. Please ensure students are prepared to exit before reaching the drop-off point to reduce delays and maintain a smooth traffic flow.
Longer Stops and Trunk Use:
Please use the parking lot for longer stops or trunk access to avoid drop-off lane congestion. Students can safely cross using the marked crosswalk.
Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated as we implement these changes. Student safety is our priority; we're confident these adjustments will enhance our morning drop-off routine.
For questions or concerns, contact our administrative team.
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications Open for 2023-2024 School Year
Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 is happy to offer free breakfast and lunch to all FFC8 students starting in the 2023-2024 school year under the state of Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program.
Even though meals will be provided for free this coming school year, it’s important for families to continue filling out the federal application for educational benefits. The data from these applications helps the district offer free or reduced classroom, athletic, laptop, and other school-related fees to families who need those adjustments. It will also help families qualify for a sliding scale payment for Summer School in 2024.
•If your student attends Aragon Elementary or Welte Education Center please fill out the Family Economic Data Survey.
•If your student attends Abrams, AIM, Carson Middle, Eagleside, Fountain Middle, Fountain-Fort Carson High School, Jordahl, Mesa, Mountainside, Patriot, or Weikel please fill out the Free and Reduced School Meals Application.
•If you have students at a school in each category above please fill out one of each form, if applying online.
•If families prefer a paper application, it is a combined form and only one form needs to be submitted per family. Paper applications can be obtained and filled out in person at the FFC8 Nutrition Services office – 425 W. Alabama Ave.
•If you have any questions when filling out the applications, please call Nutrition Services at (719) 382-1334.
The overall data about our district helps us qualify for grants and some forms of federal funding. District data also benefits our partners, local organizations and nonprofits who can point to it for their own work or funding.
Submit your Free and Reduced Lunch application today. The deadline for applications is September 30 to access the above benefits for your student this current school year.
Student Deliveries
To maximize classroom instruction time, please follow these guidelines for delivering forgotten items once the school day begins:
If your student needs a forgotten item, parents can drop it off at the table in front of the building next to the Attendance Secretary's office. Ensure the item is labeled with your student's name and grade. Students can retrieve non-classroom instruction items during lunch.
While surprising your student with lunch from their preferred eatery is thoughtful, please be aware that the school can only accept personal lunch deliveries from parents or guardians at the Attendance office. Unfortunately, we cannot accept deliveries from businesses or organizations.
Life Changes
“Change Happens… such as loss of housing, homelessness, job and need for resources. If this
is you, please reach out to your District Liaison. Several resources include a school pantry,
clothes closet, HOT meals program, parent resource nights, and much more. We are here to
support you! Contact Promis Bruno, MSW 719-492-8810 or pbruno@ffc8.org.”
