Our Curriculum!
The SC classes use an adapted curriculum called enCore! There are a total of 36 units, and those units are banded by grade levels. All of our classes have multiple grade levels. Due to this, some classes might use two units simultaneously. For example, a class might use a unit for kindergarten through second and a different unit for grades third through fifth. Each unit consist of an adapted fiction book and an adapted nonfiction book. It takes six weeks to complete one full unit with three weeks per book.

What we learned last week!
Last week in literacy, we finished of our fiction books.
In math, we will be on measurement and data! Depending on the unit, this ranged from using non-standard items such as paperclips to comparing weight.
In science, we finished working on different plants, animals, and habitats found within geographic regions (Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau) of Georgia.
What we are learning this week!
In literacy, we will begin our new nonfiction books. Each book has a variety of phonics built in. This changes every day. Depending on the book, the phonics could range from letter identification, letter sounds, counting syllables, or decoding words.
- Ms. Payne is using the book On the Farm.
- Mrs. Bassery is using the books Prepositions and Places in the Community.
- Mrs. Banks is using the books On the Farm and Opposites.
- Ms. Turnbull is using the book Helping Each Other.
In math, we will be working on numbers in base-10 and time! Numbers in base-10 will range from recognizing a number to building different numbers with base-10 blocks.
In science, we will began working on the solar system!
