School Climate Survey
Time is running out to have your voice heard on the RCSD climate survey. Please follow this LINK and complete the short survey by June 9th. The district would like as many responses as possible. Especially if you are happy with our school, please take the time to fill out the survey. Sometimes, results are skewed because we don't get enough responses, so please fill out the survey and let your voice be heard.
Washington DC Trip
We are very excited for the sixth grade end-of-the-year trip to Washington DC. If your child is going to attend the trip, please be on the lookout for final communications from the teachers about the trip. If you child is not going, they will report to school as usual, as Mrs. Goldstein will be here with the children who are not participating.
Field Trips
Please remember that the RCSD requires parents to sign a permission slip for every field trip that we go on. When you don't sign it, we are legally unable to allow your child to attend. It is very important that you sign and return permission slips. That said, if for some reason it is lost, any written permission via email, text message, or class dojo can be accepted. Field trips are an important part of what we do to provide authentic and meaningful learning experiences for your children, and we hate leaving any children out.
Moving Up Ceremonies
I just wanted to provide some clarification around our moving up ceremonies. These celebrations are a way for us to acknowledge the transition from preschool to kindergarten, kindergarten to grade 1, and sixth grade to middle school. We do not refer to them as graduations, because the term graduation is reserved for the ending ceremony in grade 12, and our expectation is that every one of our students will graduate from high school. We do not provide caps and gowns at any level, so please ensure that students do not come to school with graduation caps and/or gowns for moving up ceremonies. Also, for our sixth grade girls, we recommend avoiding high heels and fancy dresses. We will be in the gymnasium for the ceremony and then we move outside for refreshments. High heels are difficult to walk in on the gym floor and on grass. We advise flat sandals or wedge heels for safety. The RCSD dress code still must be followed for all school events, so please keep that in mind when choosing an outfit for your child.
We are looking forward to a wonderful end to the school year. Thank you for helping us provide a safe and supportive school environment for your children this year. We appreciate your partnership, and your involvement in our school community. If I do not see you sooner, have a wonderful summer break!

Principal's June Book of the Month
Ish, by Peter H. Reynolds
Theme(s): Ish by Peter H. Reynolds illustrates the transformation of a young boy’s relationship with his art and his outlook on life. The philosophical topic central to the story is the concept of perfection both as it relates to realism in art and the nature of perfection as a worthy motivation or achievable goal.
