January 2024 βοΈβοΈβοΈ
Welcome to the New Year at Doral!
The next twelve weeks are considered very integral in the learning process at Doral and student attendance is extremely important. Please try to schedule appointments either before or after school in order to help your student achieve by avoiding loss of instructional time. We are also encouraging families to maintain ongoing communications with your child's teacher about your student's learning progress.
Printed report cards are scheduled to go home on Monday, January 8th and they will also be available via your parent portal. This week Doral will also be sending printed I-Ready family diagnostic reports for all students in Kindergarten through seventh grade, which will show your child's performance in reading and math from August to December. Families with students in third through seventh grades will be receiving a copy of your student's TEA's Interim reports, which will include their score and your child's predicted outcome on the STAAR assessment.
In closing and in honor of National School Choice Week this month, I thank each of you for choosing Doral Academy as your school of choice. It takes a village, and we could not be where we are today without your belief, support, and commitment to education and to all of the faculty and staff at Doral.
With love and appreciation,
Mrs. DeSousa
Superintendent and Principal

- School choice means giving parents access to the best K-12 education options for their children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online learning, homeschooling, and microschooling and mix-and-match learning. National School Choice Week is an annual effort that helps parents raise awareness of these options.
- School choice is important because every child deserves an effective, challenging, and motivating education that inspires them to be successful and achieve their dreams. However, children learn in different ways and have different talents, skills, and challenges. What might be a good school for one student might not be a good fit for another child. School choice allows parents to identify the best learning environments for their individual children.
β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈπππLet us know how much you love your charter school!
We would love for each family to complete this form and return back to school on Friday, January 12th. We will be displaying them all over the school and sharing with the National Charter School Association via our social media platforms.
National Choice Week Spirit Days!!!!
