Well folks, we did it! 2022 has come to an end. It's been an incredibly impactful year for the Fletcher Elementary community in many ways. We now have a band program and held our first concert of the school year this past Tuesday. The "Hot Cross Buns" were on FIRE! Our students really shined. The American Psychological Association reports that studies show, "[APA] research suggests that, in fact, the more they study music, the better they do in [math, science and English]." The team is now fully invested in growing their capacity to implement Restorative Justice Practices and discipline incidents are down 35%. Our grade level PLC teams are now focused on reading instruction and project-based learning. We fully expect to see drastic improvements in reading assessment scores when they come around later in January/early February. Additionally, Chronic absenteeism is down from 66% last year to 40% this year. This is still way too high! Remember, if your student misses school, they miss out!

Over the break, especially with the good weather, our exterior paint work will be firing on all cylinders to minimize interruptions during the school day. The joint use agreement park will be open all day every day, and we kindly ask that you keep your distance from the trailer parked on the blacktop.

Our Student of the Week for is Mia in Mrs. Malik and Mr. Catacutan's UTK Class. Mia is a great student, always striving to learn more. She is also very helpful and kind to her peers. Students look up to Mia because of her excellent leadership skills- clear communication, fairness, and trustworthiness. Way to go, Mia! Thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!

Welcome aboard Mr. Matthew Griswold! Matt hails from Houston, Texas and is a Navy veteran where he served as a logistics specialist. He will be taking over as our afternoon custodian. Matt is a huge Houston Astros and Texans fan. When you see him around, make sure to say hey!

Weekly voluntary COVID screenings resumed this week and will continue to take place weekly on Monday mornings. The more students we have signed up for the screenings, the sooner we can identify symptomatic and asymptomatic cases to reduce community spread.
