Bluejacket Family Communication

A Message from Superintendent Rudolph
Dear Bluejacket Families:
During this season of gratitude, we are grateful for our partnerships with families and our communities in support of student learning. A year ago, we brought together a team of parents, staff, students, and community members to develop our District’s Strategic Plan. The plan was adopted in December 2022, and I’m proud to report we are in full implementation. You can read about our progress on our plans here. We want to thank all of our staff, families and community partners for your continued support and involvement.
One of our community partnerships is with Lighthouse Services. Over the last two months, we offered two free parent/caregiver workshops on Brain-Based Caregiving. We are providing a short recap of those sessions with four important take-aways for parents and caregivers. We look forward to more learning opportunities in 2024.
The anticipation of the upcoming holiday season can bring varied emotions. For students, big emotions of excitement, anxiety, and anticipation can disrupt routines and predictability. Often young people don’t process the difference between excitement and anxiety, their nervous systems just know big things are going on. It’s a good reminder for adults in our lives to take a breath, pause, validate feelings, and provide a stabilizing force for our kids. It’s a great time to look for opportunities to slow down, be present with the people we are with, and honor the people who can’t be with us.
If you need support, we are here to help. Our schools are a hub of our community. Through the partnership of area businesses and churches, we can assist families with some basic needs (e.g. warm weather wear or basic supplies). Simply complete this confidential google form, and our volunteer coordinators will be in touch with you. We want to thank MinnCo, our local churches, NHH Roofing, Johnson Bros, Allina, Sportsmans' Club, and the Grandy Lions Club who have supported this effort.
We also have community mental health resources linked on our school website pages. We want every member of our school community to feel valued, supported, and respected. We still believe it takes a village (or small town) to raise a child, and no family needs to feel alone.
With appreciation and gratitude,
Nate Rudolph
Superintendent

Earlier this month, we celebrated National Community Education Day, in recognition of the importance of providing opportunities for lifelong learning, building community connections and partnerships, and supporting the growth and development of all. If your children are in preschool, Adventure Center, or swim lessons, have taken the babysitting class or a family art class, or participate in youth sports that use C-I School Facilities — that’s Community Education. Please thank our Community Education team for their ongoing service, passion and commitment to educating and supporting the whole child, family, and community.
