Summer Check-In #2
Updates and Announcements
Schedule Changes
Student schedules will be available on StudentVue starting Tuesday afternoon on August 22nd. Students should click Class Schedule (not Gradebook) in StudentVue to see their yearlong schedule. The offering and staffing of all LOHS classes and the subsequent development/design of the schedule is based on the forecasted class requests made by each student in the spring. Please remember, students selected alternate electives during forecasting last school year and were informed that alternate elective choices could be in their schedule if classes were full or if there were other scheduling conflicts. Please note: Many students will notice that they are scheduled for year long classes during different periods each semester (e.g. English 12: Period 1 during Semester 1 but Period 3 during Semester 2). This is not an error—it is specifically designed to accommodate more elective options for students, and consequently will not meet the criteria for a schedule change.
If you believe that you need a schedule change, please read the information below and fill out the schedule change request form found here: https://forms.gle/zM5Vj8RZ9Vi4bXz88
*Counselors will be unable to respond to schedule change requests via email, so it is important to use the google form link.
A schedule change MAY be granted if:
*The student wants to drop a class to have a free period
*The student needs the course to fulfill graduation requirements
*The student does not meet course prerequisites (e.g. scheduled for Art 2 before taking Art 1)
*The student is placed in the wrong level of the course (i.e. Math, Honors, AP)
*The student is missing a core subject (English, Science, Math, Social Studies, World Language)
The Counseling Department will review the schedule change request form for the criteria above. If the schedule change is granted, your schedule will be updated in StudentVue. If your schedule has not changed before the first day of school, it is because you do not meet the criteria above or the change was not possible. Students are expected to follow their current schedule (updated schedules will be reflected in StudentVue.).
Schedule change requests must be submitted by 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 30th.

LOHS Out Of Boundary Ride Share Info
consider setting up a rideshare.
If you would like to be included in a database of our families who reside out of the LOHS boundary, please email our registrar, Tracy Chalpoutis chalpout@loswego.k12.or.us and she will include you in the database and share it out to all interested families. The purpose of the database is for families to connect with each other and hopefully set up a rideshare. It will be the responsibility of each family to make their own connections. We will solely provide the contact information of families interested in making connections.
Information included in the database will be the following:
-Student name and grade
-Parent name and email address
-Street address including city and zip code

Green Team Cap and Gown Donations
Hello class of 2024! Green Team is pleased to announce that the graduation cap and gown donations in the spring were a success and we have 45 gently used gowns-almost double the amount we collected in 2022! Thank you to the Class of 2023! Green Team will be selling and distributing caps, gowns, and tassels for $35 at senior registration on Wednesday, August 23, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Look for a table by the auditorium with a Green Team sign. Proceeds will go to a Class of 2024 senior class-chosen sustainability project-more details later!
There are limited numbers of sizes so pre-order your cap, gown and tassel combo using the Sign Up Genius here and then pay when you go to pick it up at senior registration (it is possible there will be extras on hand that day to purchase but last year we sold out with pre-orders). You can pay $35 cash or check (made out to LOHS) when you pick up the items at the Green Team table at registration. If you sign up and then change your mind, please remove your order ASAP so another student can sign up. (You can always check back on the Sign Up Genius to see if a spot has opened back up).
If you cannot go to senior registration but want to order one, please write that on the Sign Up Genius in the comments section, and coordinate to pick up from Ms. Foster the first week of school in room 211. In that case, please mail or drop a check off with the bookkeeper, Ms. Munds, ahead of time as gowns will not be guaranteed to be saved after the 23rd without payment.
The gowns have been gently washed and hung to dry indoors and will be distributed in a brown bag along with a looks-like-new cap and a brand new 2024 tassel. Thank you to Jostens for helping make this possible and thank you in advance for supporting our program!

*If you know of someone who would still like to donate last year's cap or gown, please have them drop it at the main office and it will get stored and sold next year. Thanks!
