Who's Thankful? I am! Thankful for You!
During the week, I was struck several times at how powerful it is to pause, breath, reflect, take perspective and acknowledge the things I am deeply thankful for. I am so blessed to have a very long list, but I wanted to let the Anderson Families know that I am very thankful for You.
- You care deeply about your children's learning, growth, and development and it shows.
- You work very hard as parents to do your best to prepare your kids for school each day.
- You support and appreciate their teachers as we join you in helping your child be the best they can be.
- You communicate any praise or concerns you have so we can continue to help Anderson improve every day.
- You trust our team to help your child feel safe, laugh, and learn every day.
- You read the weekly newsletters! :)
I love serving with the team of educators at Anderson! The important work we have as a community to help our kids learn and grow can be difficult, but it is made easier because of You. For that, I am sincerely thankful!
Mr. Jarot
We have three weeks of focused learning before we send them home again for Winter Break! Let's make the most of this time! Let the learning continue!
Winter iReady Diagnostic Coming Next Week!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The second i-Ready diagnostic assessment is scheduled for students to take next week.
At Anderson, we will be taking the diagnostic for Reading and Math from December 6th through the 9th. Our teachers are proactive in helping to make this a positive and motivating opportunity for your child to simply "Show what they know". We certainly encourage all kids to simply do their best!
This is a mid-year check on how students are progressing towards their growth goal. Your school will provide you with more specific days as to when your child will take their assessments. After the diagnostic assessments, your child will receive an update to their lessons assigned under the personalized pathway (MyPath).
What should I know and expect as a parent/guardian?
Computer adaptive assessments are designed to determine what standards students know and don’t know yet.
Remind your child they will see questions they might not know the answer to and some easier questions. We need to know what they do know and do not know yet. This is expected.
The purpose of the i-Ready diagnostic is not to give your child a score or grade, but to determine how to best support their learning.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning. We look forward to sharing information with you throughout the year. If you have any questions about i-Ready, please do not hesitate to contact me, your principal, or your child’s teachers. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting https://sites.google.com/d303.org/i-readyresources/home .
Sincerely,
David Chiszar

E-Learning Plan and Emergency Days
The School Board has approved an E-Learning plan that gives the district the option to offer remote learning in place of emergency days. Currently, our last day of school is Tuesday, May 24, which is the week before Memorial Day. As we move into the winter months, we want to update you on the plan for how the district will manage emergency days and e-learning days.
If we experience inclement weather, the first three days will be “snow days” that will be made up at the end of the school year on May 25, 26, and 27 as needed.
Subsequent emergency days will be remote days so the last attendance day will still be before Memorial Day.
If there is a long stretch of inclement weather (blizzard, polar vortex, etc.), we may split the days into “snow days” and e-learning days so as to not have too many non-attendance days in a row.
