INCLEMENT WEATHER PROTOCOLS
As winter weather approaches our area, we share the following general information about weather-related changes to school schedules:
There are ONLY TWO official sources of school closing and/or delay information for PMES:
Connect 5 robocall/automated email communication. The email will display as “noreply@finalsiteconnct.com.” The telephone number displayed by the robocall will be the PMES telephone number or the Administrative Office’s telephone number.
Local news stations' live broadcasts or website (WTAE, KDKA, WPXI)
Please note:
PMES will not have two-hour delays unless all 6 sending districts for our school also call a delay.
PMES may cancel school if two or more of our largest sending districts for our school close their schools due to weather conditions. There are very limited situations in which a transporting district closes its schools, but will still send buses for our scholars. Parents should keep phone numbers for bus garages nearby for those instances.
When PMES closes due to weather conditions, all families will be notified with the Connect 5 system. The closure will also be posted on WTAE, WPXI, and KDKA news outlets.
Scholars who take a school bus should follow the transporting district’s transportation schedule.
If PMES is closed due to inclement weather, the Afterschool Program will also close for that day.
For the 2023-2024 school year, Propel Schools is not participating in Flexible Instruction Days (FIDs.) Scholars will not take devices or FID folders home and will not log into Google Classroom for assignments to complete. If school is closed due to inclement weather, scholars will not work remotely.
Please refrain from calling the school building to ask if there is a closing or delay. Our phone lines may be busy with calls to or from transportation companies.
As always, thank you for your time and for choosing Propel Schools as your partner in education!
Fifth Grade Transitional Scholar Information
Hello Propel Montour 5th Grade Families:
Current Propel Montour 5th grade scholars who want to continue their education at Propel Montour Middle School must submit an application through propel.schoolmint.net by December 31. When completing an application, please be sure to select the option stating that your current school is Propel Montour Elementary School. This will ensure that your scholar receives the appropriate priority in enrollment. If your soon-to-be 6th grade scholar also has siblings who attend Propel, mark this information so that sibling preference can also be applied.
The registration process must also be completed in a timely manner if you are contacted by the Enrollment Team in January 2024. This process is necessary because sending districts require updated proofs of residency anytime a Propel scholar transfers from one building to another.
As you may be aware, transportation is provided by your local school district as long as you live in a busing district and within 10 miles of the school. If you have questions about transportation for your scholar, please call your local school district’s transportation department.
If you have questions regarding Propel Montour Middle School or other Propel middle schools, feel free to reach out to your school counselor. Questions specific to SchoolMint should be directed to the Enrollment Manager, Mary Meiman, via this email address: marymeiman@propelschools.org.
Lost & Found
All lost and found items will now be located in the lobby of the building so scholars have an organized way to find any items they may be missing!
