Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
Hello Hamilton Families!
January 28, 2024
Well it was great to make it to school 4 days last week. Hopefully mother nature cooperates and we can make it all 5 days this week! Maybe the lions can bring home a win and some of that warmer weather!
Tuesday is an election day and school will be in session. The voting will take place in the gym and there will be no access to the students from the gym during that time. There will also be security in the building provided by the election committee. As always safety is our number one priority.
This week kicks off our PTA fundraiser- Penny Wars. We also already had planned our PBIS Choice day fundraiser this week on Wednesday. The PBIS choice day fundraiser supports our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The money raised goes to purchase games for indoor recess, prizes for students for various achievements (including attendance), calm down activities, fidgets and other materials that support positive behavior. The PTA fundraiser goes to pay for things like, Science Alive where live exotic animals come to the school, field trips, service and safety squad belts, special art projects, fall festival, bounce house for the 5th grade picnic and so much more. Please know that we do a number of fundraisers and enrichment activities so that families have many opportunities to participate. There is never an obligation to participate, it is always up to the family to participate in what works best for your family. Thank you for your continued support!

Friendly Reminders
- NWEA testing is taking place this week, make sure your child is at school for the whole day so they don't have to do the make up test and miss our on class time.
- PLEASE call the office to update your phone number if it has changes since the beginning of the year. It is critical that we have a good contact number for each student.
- Dismissal is 3:20. We do not provide care in the office afterschool. Please be at school by 3:20 if your child is not walking home or taking the bus. If your child needs care after 3:20, we have the Champions Child Care program in our building if you need to sign your child up for after school care. Champions is not a part of WW school, they just use our space, you can go directly to their website and sign up. https://www.discoverchampions.com/.
- Students who ride the bus are expected to follow bus rules and expectations. If a student is not able to follow the expectations they may lose their privilege of riding the bus. Please remind your child about the expected behavior on the bus.
- When you come to the school and push the button for the door camera please remember that if the secretary is on the phone she is not able to answer the door until she hangs up the phone. Mrs. Chris and Mrs Vincent also have to step away from the desk to help students in the clinic or with other tasks, so there may be a delay in answering the door from time to time. Please be patient if it is taking a few minutes extra to answer the door.
- Please be prepared with your id when picking up your child. Sometimes we have a guest secretary and he or she may not know all the parents in the school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

When your child misses school not only are they missing out on the opportunity for academic growth they are missing out on the opportunity to grow friendships, self regulation and independence. Please help your child to have all the opportunities that build a successful future!
Family Resource Center
Wayne-Westland Community Schools has a Family Resource Center (FRC), which provides services to any student/family enrolled in our District, free of cost. Some of the services they provide are: basic need assistance, access to over 700 local resources, Laundry Assistance Program and material items for those unable to afford them (emergency toiletries, socks/underwear, hats/gloves/scarves, etc.) They are also able to supply school supplies and backpacks year round for any WWCS student. Please contact our Family Resource Center at: 734-419-2709 or FRC@wwcsd.net. Our FRC also has a Digital Request for Services Form, which can be used to request assistance by filling out a simple form.
