October Newsletter
A QUICK NOTE FROM SUPERINTENDENT SOKOLOWSKI
Welcome to October! The start of the fall season begins a truly festive and exciting time for all of our schools. While the fall colors announce the close of summer, it is the sound of a marching band, the fans at a football game, and the great spirit of our students that make October such a special time in our schools. Please enjoy our newsletter and the month ahead. Yes, that is “Bob the Builder” to the right working with Mrs. Baer’s kindergarten students on the letter construction site in her classroom at Mary C. IMMEDIATE JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN THE WCASD
WCASD COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING FOR 2022-2025
The 2021-22 school year is a comprehensive planning year for our district. We’re excited about this process! Comprehensive planning engages our district community in identifying strengths, areas of need, and opportunities. From this work, committees work together to set goals, confirm strategies, and select measures to improve learning outcomes for all students. Here are our 5 goal areas for the comprehensive planning process:
- Access and Assessment of District Programming
- Innovative Teaching and Learning
- Student Involvement
- Fiscal and Capital Planning
- Special Education Planning
Currently, goal leaders are forming sub-committees with diverse stakeholders – teachers, administrators, students, parents, and community members. We’ll come together for our first meeting as a whole committee on Thursday, October 14th at East High School from 6:30-8pm.
YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND WCASD COMMUNITY CONVERSATION PART 2
The West Chester Area School District is leading a series of Community Conversations inspired by the title of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s final book Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?
As a community member, your voice and your perspectives are important to us. If you’re new or returning to the discussion, we hope you can join us for Part 2 of Community Conversations held on Thursday, October 21, at Bayard Rustin High School (1100 Shiloh Road), beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Please register to attend the event by Thursday, October 14. Due to the format of the event, registration is required to attend. This event is not open to the media or anyone living outside the WCASD boundaries.
