Principal Report:
Dear Waukazoo Families,
We kicked off our month of Traditions at Waukazoo on Monday with an assembly! We heard from our 5th grade SAIL students about Chief Waukazoo, watched a video of our teacher and staff's family traditions, and had a read aloud together as a whole school. All week, students have been working hard to create gifts with the support of our PTA during the Winter Workshop; we are always so grateful for their support to help create memories for our students. Coming up in two weeks will be our Holiday Spirit Week and we cannot wait to see all the fun spirit throughout our school. Here are the dress up days:
- Monday, December 18: PJ Day
- Tuesday, December 19: Traditions Day (wear or bring something that represents your family traditions)
- Wednesday, December 20: Home for the Holidays (represent your favorite college or school- can be Waukazoo!)
- Thursday, December 21: Holiday Headwear
- Friday, December 22: Holiday Wear
With the weather likely taking a turn here soon, please remember a few important details:
- Please send students to school ready for outdoor recess! That includes hats, gloves, snow pants, and winter boots (if your family needs support to provide these items, please reach out to your classroom teacher)
- Drop off/Pick up: Please be conscious of the slippery pavement when driving and walking up to the school building. Please walk in designated pedestrian lanes and drive cautiously!
We hope you're enjoying a wonderful holiday season with your family.
Best,
Mrs. Bolhuis

Waukazoo Student Council:
Hi Waukazoo!
Student Council had our December meeting this morning. Please give your Reps a few minutes to share information with your class. In case you don't have Reps, here are the highlights:
1. The Food Drive was very successful! Students brought in over 637 pounds of food for the Community Action House! Well done!
2. We reviewed School Store expectations for SC members. Students that are scheduled to work will go down to the store when their class goes to lunch. They will eat their lunch while working at the store. We also discussed new items to add to the store.
3. We planned for our December project, which is a Mitten Tree! New mittens (gloves and hats, too) can be donated December 11 - 21. All donations will be passed along to WIN WO and the Boys and Girls Club of Holland.
Next Meeting: January 12
Thanks!
Wendy and Amy

Physical Wellness with Ms. Krause:
Happy December! The last few weeks we have been working on our throwing skills. The older students learned the rules of handball and this week got to play their own handball game! Did you know handball is in the olympics? They did a great job of following the rules and working as a team in the game. The younger students have been showing off their underhand throwing skills with a partner and seeing how many catches they can get in a row. This past week they worked on throwing at different targets in stations. Winter break is coming up and we will bring out the parachute before we go on break! I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks! Go WO!
