Week of January 15th
Dear Kimball Hill Families,
WOW! I must say how impressed I was to see so many students online independently engaging in eLearning. Thank you to our parents for your help today. We know how challenging technology can be and navigating a full house; while fulfilling other obligations. A huge shout out to our amazing staff for ensuring that our students had a successful day of learning. It was wonderful to see the teaching and learning occurring despite the challenging circumstances. Students were all smiles and teachers demonstrated such a high level of patience, flexibility and positivity! I am proud to be part of such an amazing school community of students, staff and parents.
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday due to Martin Luther King Day. Tuesday, January 16th is early dismissal at 11:25am for all students in full day Kindergarten and 1st-6th grade. There are no classes for half day programs. We hope you have a nice, long weekend! Stay safe and warm!
As always, please reach out to me with any questions or concerns at 847-963-5200.
Warmly,
Michelle LaCamera

Students will be allowed to bring one board game from home and classes will celebrate through games. We will have extra games for those that are unable to bring a game from home. We will send an email home on January 24th to share if the goal has been met.
Health News
VISION SCREENINGS are mandated by the Illinois Public Health Department for all Kindergarten and second grade students. HEARING SCREENINGS are mandated by the Illinois Public Health Department for all Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students. In addition to the mandated grade level, screenings for both hearing and vision are conducted for special education students, teacher referrals and students new to the district. These screenings will take place at Kimball Hill Elementary on Thursday, January 18, by nurses who are certified in vision and hearing screenings. If your child is already under the care of a licensed healthcare provider and wears (or should be wearing) glasses, please let the school nurse know. Please ensure your child has their glasses at school on Thursday, January 18. If your child has had a recent eye or audiological examination that is not on file in the health office, please return the completed examination form to the health office in place of screening. Any student who does not pass the initial screening will be rescreened in approximately 2 weeks. This may be due to a cold, congestion, or difficulty understanding directions. Parents/guardians will be notified if there are any abnormal findings after the second screening. These are only screenings and should never replace a thorough exam by your doctor. The health and well-being of your child is of utmost concern to us. The time you take in this matter is very much appreciated. Please contact the health office or Corinne Jones, CCSD Health Coordinator, with any questions.

D15 parents are invited to join us to learn more about Dual Language Programming for potential incoming kindergarten students.
