GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
- CHROMEBOOKS: Students, please do not leave your Chromebook in your vehicles at night. The temperature is too cold and Chromebooks will potentially be damaged. Also, the cold weather will drain any battery and can make it harder to hold the charge. Please take your Chromebook inside for the evening.
- MLK JR. ESSAY CONTEST: The 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest is now open! Students in grades 6-12 are invited to participate in this contest. Students are being asked to write their essays based on the following quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope." More specific contest information can be found on the Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest website, https://iasp.org/students/mlk-jr-essay/. The online submission deadline is February 28, 2025.
- PARENTS: We are looking to hire a Part-Time food service employee (4 hours per day). If interested please reach out to Kathy Bernaix 765-536-0032 ex. 1629 or kbernaix@mgusc.k12.in.us
- SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to MG! Feb. 3rd-7th. Click here to see flyer.
- FT. WAYNE ZOO TEENS FOR NATURE VOLUNTEER/LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: This program allows teens to explore zoo related careers while participating in professional leadership and team building activities. Teens will learn, grow, make new friends, and have fun! Online applications open January 1, 2025 at this website. Deadline for applying is February 28,2025. There are also brochures in Student Services with more info.
- SERVICE LEARNING HOURS: Every student is required to have 10 service learning hours per year (work you are not being paid for). This is for all students 7th-12th. Service log sheets can be found outside of the Student Services office.
- ALL STUDENT DRIVERS: All Student Drivers that Attend: Hinds, Grant Regional, Leffler, Co-op, internships, work, College Classes MUST SIGN IN AND OUT @ the Main Office counter when entering or exiting the School building.
- BREAKFAST/LUNCH PRICES: Breakfast will once again be FREE this year! Lunch prices remained the same as last year at $2.50. Ala Carte items are also available each day for an additional cost.
- PRAYER LOCKER: Just a reminder that there is a prayer locker for anyone interested in filling out an index card with a little prayer. It can be for yourself, a friend, family member, neighbor, whoever. Just take a card, write down your prayer and stick it in the slots in the locker. The locker can be found in C Hallway. Locker number 165!
- OUTSIDE FOOD: Just a reminder that there must be NO OUTSIDE ORDERED FOOD IN THE CAFETERIA!!!! (Example: McDonalds, Subway, Pizza) If you bring food in, you can take it to Student Services and eat it there.
MG Bags!!
The Junior class is selling MG bags as part of their after-prom fundraiser. If interested, contact Sara Stanger or Amanda Beckley!

GRADES 7-8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
- YEARBOOK SALES: Students should be receiving an order form to order a yearbook. Sales end March 21st. They are by check this year.
- WASHINGTON DC TRIP: 8th graders interested in going to Washington, D.C. there is still time to sign up, the trip isn't full yet. You may get information from Ms. Doughty or go to this site to register: https://bit.ly/MGDC25. Mrs. Doughty has candy bars to sell. Please have you permission slip signed to pick up a box to sell. If you need a new slip, contact Mrs. Doughty.
GRADES 9TH - 12TH ANNOUNCEMENTS
- THE ACADEMY OPEN HOUSE: Any Sophomore, Junior, or Senior has a unique opportunity to do an apprenticeship experience with seasoned professionals specializing in Software, Logistics, and the Creative Arts. The open house will be Feb. 6th at Slingshot, 1500 S Western Ave. in Marion from 9:30am-11:30am
