Park Hall's Weekly Updates
April 11, 2023
Information from the Superintendent's Office
- Please see the Superintendent's letter (below) regarding calendar changes to include the two virtual days of school on April 21 and May 12 and the last day of school being Friday, June 9th.
- Parents and guardians should be mindful of all debt that their students accrue throughout the 2022-2023 School Year. Student debt could take any one of the following forms:
Lost/Damaged Computer Devices
Lost/Damaged Textbooks
Lunch Debt
Parents/Guardians play a key role in monitoring not only their student's actions but also their fiscal responsibilities regarding lost/damaged issued devices (such as computers and textbooks) and/or food purchases made by your child in our school cafeteria. Payment can be made in the form of cash or check and should include your child's five-digit Student ID# (e.g., #12345). For further convenience, families may also pay by credit card online at http://www.myschoolbucks.com/. All questions and concerns should be directed to the school bank or the principal's secretary.
Important Notes for the Week of April 11, 2023
We are now collecting parent requests for the 2023-24 school year. If you would like to request a specific teacher, or for your child to be separated from or placed with another student, this must be put in writing and submitted to the principal. The easiest way to do this is by email: jddirenzo@smcps.org Requests are due by May 19th. Any request after that date will not be honored. We work hard to develop our classes to ensure all students are successful and we appreciate and welcome your input!
The online Pre-K application opens Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Please see the attached flyer below for more information.
Partners for Success will be hosting the session: Coaching Their Brain: Boosting Executive Skills in Children Workshop, on April 28. All are welcome! Please view the flyer for registration details.
Academy applications will open on Wednesday, March 29th, and close on Friday, May 5th. All students interested in applying for STEM 6 will need to submit an online application within the application window. Late applications will not be accepted. On Wednesday, March 29th, SMCPS academies will hold a Virtual Open House. Students interested in attending an academy program in SMCPS are welcome to attend in order to learn more from program teachers and students. Please note that there will no longer be a virtual academy option for elementary school students.
Yearbooks are now for sale. The deadline to order a yearbook is April 12th. To order a yearbook online, click here.
We are encouraging all families to sign-up and regularly check in on the Schoology website and/or app. This gives information on attendance, information from the teachers, and for grades 3-5 assignments. For information on how to do this, click here.
If you need to change how your child is getting home, families must let the office and teacher know prior to 2:45.
