Mario Andrade, Superintendent of Schools
October 13, 2022
Dear NSD Families and Staff,
Teaching and learning is what we are all about here in Nashua. It was our pleasure to present to the Nashua Board of Education earlier this week our vision for quality instruction, ensuring our students have access, opportunity, and support to achieve the full rigor of academic standards. I would like to take this added opportunity to reiterate that vision:
· Every student will have access to grade-appropriate assignments, strong instruction, deep engagement, and teachers with high expectations, every day, in every class.
· Every student and family is an authentic partner and should have real opportunities to shape the experiences students have in school, receive accurate and accessible information about students’ progress, and have a legitimate role in decision-making.
Thank you.
Mario Andrade, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
Nashua School District
Nashua Board of Education
October 11, 2022 Meeting
As noted above, Mr. Poska and Dr. Sarfde, Assistant Superintendents, joined Dr. Andrade in presenting the school district's vision of instruction to Board members. The presentation outlined a commitment to ensure each student access, opportunity, and support to achieve the full rigor of academic standards. Please click here to view presentation.
The Board recommended the Nashua Board of Aldermen approve two resolutions that authorize the Mayor and City Treasurer to issue bonds for school building and school building safety improvements:
- The first resolution authorizes the City to issue a bond not to exceed $16 million to renovate Main Dunstable Elementary and Birch Hill Elementary Schools. Both schools, built in 1972, have the same footprint and design with open classrooms. Renovations will create more secure classrooms and upgrade HVAC.
- The second resolution authorizes the City to issue a bond not to exceed $2 million for school building safety and security improvements.
The next Nashua Board of Education meeting will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
