Thank you! Lake Oswego School District voters passed Measure 3-592, with approximately 72% of ballots cast in favor of the local option school levy in the Special Election on May 16, 2023. Renewing the levy protects class sizes, educator positions, instructional days, elective programming, and mental health supports in our school without increasing the current property tax rates. Passing the levy is a big win for our students.

Smart Start is an opportunity specifically for our students with 504s and IEPs, and their parents and guardians, to make introductions and connect with their teachers and to feel prepared and welcomed for the start of school. Smart Start is in person on Thursday, Aug. 31, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Teachers will be familiar with your student’s plan and accommodations. To help get to know your students, please complete the attached one-page profile or create one on your own ahead of time, and give it to the teacher at the Smart Start introduction.

Also, to assist in your family’s preparation for the new school year use the Smart Start checklist for parents and guardians of students with 504s and IEPs.

Parking registration for the 2023-2024 school year is now open. To be eligible for a parking permit next school year, open the registration directions below, read the policies, and follow the QR to the registration form.

As a reminder, if students do not have a permit to park on campus, especially current juniors and sophomores, they are not allowed to park on campus or the church lot as they are taking someone else's parking spot. We've had an increase of students without a permit parking on campus and it causes a huge problem for staff, students, and visitors whose spots are taken. Any student who will be a senior for the 23/24 school year and has received 3 or more parking tickets for parking without a permit this school year will only be eligible through the junior parking lottery. Any student who will be a junior for the 23/24 school year and has received 3 or more parking tickets for parking without a permit this school year will not be eligible for the lottery.

• Amongst this year's Seal earners are the most students from our English Learner program to achieve the Seal in one year!

The 2023 LOHS Senior Carnival to celebrate all of our seniors will be held on May 31 from 3:30 to 5:30 on the LOHS football field!

Portland Sparrow Clubs has partnered with Langer's Entertainment Center in Sherwood for a one-day fundraiser on Memorial Day. 100% of all proceeds for bowling and shoe rentals will go to help Portland Sparrow Clubs and support the work we do. Calling all Lakers! This year, the Lake Oswego Youth Leadership Council (YLC) designed our annual capstone project to improve sustainability and ecological awareness in our community. The YLC is a youth group composed of high school students from across Lake Oswego that influences city council goals, learns about and affects local government, and designs a culminating project to reflect youth voice. Although Lake Oswego is a relatively green city, climate change, pollution, and other environmental issues are at the core of national and global discussion today. We believe it's our power as the YLC to educate the next generation of youth on these essential issues, and we wanted to achieve this through an engaging and fun activity, "Bumblebee Bingo". This project involves a bingo board of sustainability-related activities for elementary and middle schoolers to complete and serves as an effective step towards an environmentally-minded community. Asthma/Allergy Medications at School

It is critical to the health and safety of your student to bring ALL doctor recommended medications to school. Over the summer, speak with your doctor to get the proper supplies for school and then go to the LOSD web page to find the proper forms to be completed with the medications. If your student is in Elementary or Secondary and will store their meds at school, watch for a medication drop off time for your particular school. If they are in secondary and keeping their medication in their possession, please submit the proper paperwork so we are aware of where to find their medication in case of an emergency.

Individualized Health Plan? - Watch for an Email

If your child has a LOSD Individualized Health Plan (IHP) developed in consultation with your District Nurse, please watch for an email! Your response is needed to confirm or update your student's plan. We appreciate your prompt response.

Immunizations

Please review the OHA requirements and information on required immunizations for students. Please make arrangements to complete immunizations and update Synergy over the summer to avoid exclusion in 2024.
