The Paw Print
August 22, 2017
Principal's Message
Welcome to the new school year, 2017-2018 is shaping up to be an exciting year for our school! Last November our community supported a referendum question that included a new Meadow View School. Since last fall we have been busy working on the site plan, design, and floor plan. We can't wait to share that work with you.
The crayons are new and the pencils are sharpened. Excitement is in the air. Before the year starts, I wanted to take a moment to highlight several things that will hopefully make for a smooth transition to the school year. Read on, and again welcome to the new school year!

Home School Communication
Communication – stay connected!
- E-mail, the Meadow View website, and weekly newsletter (“The Paw Print”) will be the main vehicles through which whole school information is shared.
- The Family Resources tab on the school website is valuable resource as well.
- Read individual teacher newsletters/emails.
- Be sure to check any take home folders from the classroom, as some information is best sent with old fashioned paper (i.e. field trip permission slips).
- “Like” us on Facebook – you can find us at https://www.facebook.com/MEADOWVIEWELEMENTARY.
- Follow Meadow View Elementary School on Twitter at @MEADOWVIEW4

Drop off and pick up prodecures
Morning drop off – It is essential to follow our rules when dropping a child off for school in the morning. This will create the safest environment possible for our children.
- Any time you enter the driveway, please make certain to give our students a brake! Slow down.
- Students should be dropped off between 8:20 and 8:35. The bell to begin class will sound at 8:40 a.m. Please take into account the road conditions so you can arrive on time.
- Cars should be single file in the circle drive. Please do not “double up.”
- Have your children ready to get out of the right side of the car on their own. Should you need to help them out, please park in the spaces provided and walk your child to the front of school.
- Keep the driveway to the playground open for the school busses.
- Pull up as far as possible into the circle drive.
- When leaving, please wait for the car in front of you to pull out.
Afternoon pickup - Please keep the following rules in mind when picking up a child after school. This will create the safest environment possible for our children.
- Drive slowly when entering and exiting.
- The circle drive is closed at the end of the day. Please park in the student pick up parking or staff parking lot.
- Dismissal is at 3:40. Please meet your child outside in the front of the building.
- Walk with your child to your vehicle.

BIB Volunteer Background Checks
The Oconomowoc Area School District is now using Secure Volunteer to process criminal background checks for volunteers. If you plan on helping in the classroom or attending a field trip, please take the time to fill out your background check ahead of time. Click on the link below for directions.
Raptor Visitor System
We love volunteers! Please remember all volunteers are required to have a background check prior to helping out (you may have already done this if you have volunteered in the past) and all visitors are required to sign in at the front office. Here’s what to expect when you visit any school building in our district during regular school hours:
- First-time access to a building will require that we scan your driver’s license or photo ID to register you in the system.
- Upon approval and a photo match, an ID badge will be printed
- Hand the office Administrative Assistant photo ID and keys
- ID and keys will be kept at the office until check-out
- At check-out, sign out on the touch screen, then keys and ID will be returned
- On subsequent visits, sign-in on the touch screen, then check ID and keys at the front office until your visit is complete and you check-out
