Noetic Math Contest
In November, twenty seven third and fourth grade students at Woodland Elementary School participated in the Noetic Learning Math Contest with the Enrichment teacher, Mrs. Hendricks. The purpose of this national contest is to inspire young students to challenge themselves and excel in math. Congratulations to Matthew Lanari for being the Team Winner for third grade! Congratulations to Clark Lisowe for being the Team Winner for fourth grade! Clark also made the National Honor Roll and his name will be published on the Noetic Learning Math website! Many students earned Honorable Mention awards and Participation certificates as well. Congratulations to all the students that participated! They each worked hard to do their best in this challenging contest!

I was doing some reading recently and came across this article on children and positive values. I thought this may be a good one to share with you. I hope you like it.
Teaching Kids Some Positive Values
Families come in all configurations these days. Many children grow up in homes with one parent instead of two, with mixed families, or with extended family members living with them. No matter the structure of the family, life is smoother if the family works together to get things done. This means that everyone in the family must do his or her part. Whether it is laundry, cooking, house/room cleaning, washing the car, shoveling snow, walking the dog or emptying the trash, there are always chores to be done. It is important that the adults in the family not do all of the work themselves. If they do, they are depriving their children of the chance to learn what is involved in family life and to take some healthy responsibility for their share of the work. As at home, school is a place where students should be given some responsibilities in their classes, so that they understand that they have an important role as part of the group. When they depend on each other to get a job done, they learn to value each other and to cooperate. Give the young people in your life some responsibilities and then hold them accountable. This becomes a great chance to teach kids some positive values.
As always, please contact me at cbiolo@kimberly.k12.wi.us with any questions or concerns.
Note From Chartwell's Food Service - 2nd Entrees
The elementary lunch menu offers students a choice of entrees, vegetables, fruits, and milk. For students with funds on their meal account, they may also purchase a second entree for $2.00 (if extra meals are available). To restrict your student from purchasing a la carte options, which include 2nd entrees, please use this Ala carte restriction form and return it to your school office or mail to:
