KISU NEWSLETTER
Number 485 ..............................7th June 2021
Director's Message
Firstly I would like to express my hope that all of the KISU family are safe and well. If you have had your child tested and unfortunately the result is positive I would ask that you inform school so that we can pass the information on to parents of children who may have been in contact with your child.
This week's Newsletter was delayed by a couple of days so that I could report any impact the Presidential announcements might have on KISU. The only impact they will have is on the final 3 IGCSE examinations which may not be able to take place. If this is the case then it will not impact the students' grades as they have already take 2 out of 3 of the papers and if they miss the third paper then their grade will be based on their marks in the first 2. We will be contacting Year 11 parents and students as soon as possible.
As we come to the end of our first week back online, I would like to share with you a comment that was made to a parent by a friend of theirs. The friend told them that they had heard that KISU was stopping doing both IGCSE and IB examinations. Nothing could be farther than the truth. We will be preparing students for both sets of examinations for many, many years to come. It really is amazing what rumours are flying around.A significant amount of this week's newsletter is dedicated to the Class of 2021 - enjoy the photos.

GRADUATING CLASS OF 2021
For many of the class of 2021 this is where it all started! In KG.
Online learning in KG3
We are ending the year as we started - back to online learning!
Unfortunately, we have had to revert to online lessons. Most of us can agree that online school does not have the same feeling of excitement as being physically in school. There was a feeling of uncertainty and sadness as we all realised we would not see members of the school community for a while. Staying home is the safest way to avoid the virus. But there is no reason to feel bored at home as we’ve listed lots of fun activities for you to try:
1. Take an online photography course
2. Learn to touch type
3. Enroll in an online Stage School
4. Build a website
5. Start a podcast
6. Write an email to someone you are grateful to
7. Cook dinner
8. Make a meal plan
9. Learn DIY skills
10. Learn car maintenance: change the oil and water, and change a tyre under supervision.
11. Watch a TedED
12. Learn a new word from the dictionary
13. Try a new language on Duolingo

18. Crack the Rubik’s Cube
19. Create bespoke art for your rooms
20. Make a photo book
21. Learn to Juggle
22. Watch a documentary
23. Visit a museum: art galleries and museums are putting some of their collections online, so there’s an unprecedented amount of things you can now see up close without the queues! Take a look at the Natural History Museum‘s fossil exhibition – it’s very cool.
24. Learn an instrument
25. Have a virtual film night with friends
26. Learn to sew
27. Plan a career: research jobs you might find interesting, from pay scales and promotion paths to what’s needed at entry level.
