I am so excited that we are about to begin our Covington "One School, One Book" for this school year. We have not participated in the program for the past two years when we read The One and Only Ivan, but I cannot wait to resume it this year.

Last May, I shared out four titles for our Covington Community to vote on and while all four are wonderful reads, one stood above others in the voting. This year, we will be reading Wishtree by Katherine Applegate. All students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 will be receiving their own personal copy of this wonderful book.

Today (Monday, September 27th), all Kindergarten - Grade 5 students will be receiving their own copy of Wishtree and over the next four weeks our Covington Community will participate in the "One School, One Book" reading. Reading of the book is done outside of the school day. There is a reading schedule that is attached below. Additionally, every day a video will be shared with a staff member reading the assigned pages for that day. These books are meant to help facilitate a love of reading while also giving something for families to enjoy together and us as a Covington Community to share.

Although we post daily reading, please feel free to read the chapters for the week any day during the week that is best for your family. These books are now yours to enjoy.

We will be doing some activities in school that relate to the book, having some discussion questions that you can use at home and also in school, and sharing some of the lessons that we learn through the book.

Again, this is a daily schedule laid out but please feel free to read them with what works best for your family. If you're enjoying it and want to read ahead, go for it! If you miss a day and need to catch up, do that. The purpose of this is to provide a wonderful book to all of our students and families that you can enjoy with each other and we can enjoy with our Covington Community.
