Barton Junior High School
April 2023
WOW... I can hardly believe the 4th nine-weeks of the 22-23 school year has already begun. Time is passing by faster and faster!
Report cards for the 3rd nine-weeks will be coming home on Wednesday, April 5. Along with your child's report card, you should also find a math and reading Renaissance report showing their most recent assessment results. We are monitoring students' results carefully to track student performance and celebrate their growth! Please discuss this information with your child so they know how important it is to do their best.
This year our district changed the cell phone policy. These rules have been communicated and enforced since August of this year, however we have A LOT of students not following rules. Please discuss rules with your child. Cell phones can not be visible (even in a pocket) during the school day and must be turned OFF. This will be crucial during our State testing in May, as possession of cell phones violate State testing requirements. Discuss with your child that they may use the phone in the office at any time, and you are welcome to call our office and leave a message for your child at any time. Let's keep cell phones isolated to after school communication.
Barton staff looks forward to seeing all of our parents on April 6 for Kittens conferences. There will not be school on April 6, however your child is encouraged to attend the conference with you to help create their schedule for next year. There will also be no school on Friday, April 7, in observance of Good Friday.
We will see students Monday, April 10, to get ready for State testing that begins May 2.
As the principal of Barton I continue to be amazed and proud of all of our students. The Little Mermaid performance over this past weekend displayed wonderful talent that our students possess. We also had a music concert showcasing the wonderful skills of our choir, band, and orchestra students last Friday. Our Wildkittens do an outstanding job of performing in the classroom, in athletics, and in the arts. We have archery state champs about to attend nationals and robotics teams about to attend world competition. Way to go WILDKITTENS!

They are currently raising funds to get to Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah at the end of the month. We are so proud of their hard work and can't wait to see how they do in Nationals.
