February Update from the Pine Island Superintendent, 2024
Happy February!
Greetings from Pine Island Public Schools! Our second semester of the 2023-2024 school year is in full swing, and with it our learners and staff are experiencing the academics, winter activities, celebrations, and performances that come with this time of year. February is the month for Appreciation of our School Counselors, Bus Drivers/Transportation Staff, our School Resource Officer, and School Board members. Last month we celebrated our dedicated paraprofessionals. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of these groups for their care, safety, support, and leadership.
A special acknowledgement to our Pine Island School Board Members:
Board Chair, Rob Warneke
Vice Chair, Adam Miller
Treasurer, Ted Morrison
Clerk, Kristi Harney
Director Patrick Johnston
Director Emily Miller
Director Ron Peterson-Rucker
Director Patrick Johnston
and Student Representative Carter Sisell
We are so fortunate to have so many dedicated and caring people here at Pine Island Schools. Enjoy this month of love and warm temperatures.
With appreciation,
Tonya Constantine

El Nino Winter: Where are our SNOW DAYS?
Winter of 2024: WOW!
We had one Snow Day in January and we are soon to embark on March, the snowiest month of the winter. Are you prepared for the next round of winter weather? If you weren't notified with a district text, phone call, or email from our January winter weather school closure, we encourage you to contact one of our buildings to update your information. Our local radio and TV stations are also alerted, as well as our website, Facebook, and Instagram sites.
NOTE: Our first TWO school cancellation days are traditional "snow days" and are NOT replaced with e-learning days (January's unexpected closure was our first of two winter weather "freebies"). The third and subsequent school closures will be replaced with e-learning days. In special circumstances I may determine not to designate an e-learning day depending on unique situations. Each building/grade level will notify students of required e-learning guidelines; reach out to your child's teacher if you are unsure of their at-home learning plan.
