Message from the Principal
Celebrating the first 25% of the year!!
YEAR 2 and we are READY for conferences! In the video below, I talk a little about five topics, the first being the role of Conferences in an online setting. I also touch on grades which come out on November 9 via ParentVue. Please note that we do not send home paper documents, as electronic access is a key goal for the entire family. In the video, I also review the camera policy, our daily schedule and reminder about your observer accounts.
So join me in my video greeting and we hope to see you all on either November 21st or 22nd!
Enjoy our autumn weather and incredible colors that adorn our trees and streets!
Take care,
Mrs. H

Study Buddies for Middle/High School Students
Tuesday afternoon Study Buddies is a peer study group and study hall. All students are welcome and many students receive direct invites from the OLA Achievement Team or their teachers. Students can expect to have 45 minutes where they either work silently on their own or get paired with a peer tutor to discuss lessons and activity instructions together. Our next meetings are Tuesday, November 9. We hope to see your students there!

Hello OLA Students and Families!
Have you thought about what school your 5th and 8th grader will be attending next year? Probably not because it is only November! However, Portland Public has options for your child outside of their current school. They are called Focus Option Schools. These schools have programs centered around specific subjects like science and the arts. They also require an application. The window for these applications start November 15th. Please click on this link below for more detailed information. If you have any questions, please reach out! rmate@pps.net

Tech Help Desk/Chromebooks - Important Information
Hello. The process for picking up a PPS chromebook for your students has two methods. One is to call the OLA help desk at 503-916-3375 and press 2 . Please leave your student full name, ID number, and a phone number to contact you at. Another way is fill out this form by clicking on this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScbJp_A-UDV7Mf39czFZsmJDg5sgGj4qPVDPNJ-1H0cOMSfhg/viewform
If you have any older chromebooks and power cables from a student's previous school please bring them in when you come to get a new device.
Here are a few tips to keep your tech working.
At least once a week the device should be powered down and turned back on. This will allow for updates to install and give the system a chance to refresh.
If your Chrome web browser appears to be running slow, take a moment to clear the cache and history: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
Please bookmark or save the OLA Help Desk contact information on your personal device in addition to the student's device.
