View fall high school choir concerts
It’s been quite some time since our choirs have been able to perform live. Both Bonney Lake and Sumner high schools had recent live performances of their fall concerts, which were also available virtually. Now we’re able to share the amazing talent of our high school choir students for more people to enjoy.

Seeking members to serve on Equity Advisory Council; application deadline Nov. 22
The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District is committed to providing access to an excellent education for each student. This change requires our ongoing focus and a strategic approach to the increasing diversity in our schools and communities.
Through our Equity Advisory Council (EAC), we are continuing to draw together key stakeholders to examine equity in our schools and identify ways that will improve the educational experience and sense of belonging for students. HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum preview: Dec. 9
State law requires that every student receive HIV/AIDs prevention education in grades 5 through 12. As this unit covers sensitive topics, state law and SBLSD board policy require that parents are provided the opportunity to preview these lessons.
Families of students currently enrolled in 8th grade Skills for Life or 9th grade Health classes are invited to preview the curriculum and understand the health content for grades 8 and 9, preview teaching materials and ask questions about the resources used in the classroom.
Curriculum Preview Night
Dec. 9
4:30-6 p.m.

There will be another opportunity in the spring for families of 6th through 12th graders who will study this health-related content during second semester. Families wishing to exclude their child from the HIV/AIDS the state-required curriculum must preview this curriculum and sign an exclusion form. Families of students in other grades will have the opportunity to preview curriculum in March 2022.
Celebrating Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month, or as it is commonly referred to, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. A time to celebrate the rich and diverse history of Native Americans, it’s important to acknowledge the contributions Native people have given and continue to give to society.
SBLSD’s Native American Education Program serves more than 200 students throughout the District who have Native American heritage. Since mid-September, a program coordinator has been in our K-8 classrooms working in person with students on a vast array of cultural lessons and activities.
Stay tuned throughout the month for more information, resources and celebrations focused on Native American culture.
