If you are new to Legacy, we LOVE the Dinosaur Dash, and take great pride in being the highest participating secondary school three years in a row. Additionally, please mark your calendars for Tuesday, 10/24/23 at 5:00pm in the Legacy Gym for a very important Parent Workshop presented by Challenge Success (based out of Stanford University). Our presenter, Margaret Dunlap, will be sharing research-based information on how to support our students as they navigate the pressures of High School and beyond. We hope to see everyone there!

A huge thanks to the 11 new families that donated during the first week of our donation drive! We're reaching out to those families who may have missed registration or wanted to donate later. I plan on going to a college near home and focusing on honing my skills for my future career. I want to go into entertainment arts and animation as my future career and want to dedicate the next couple of years to really preparing for that. My top choice for college is Cal State Fullerton because it's nearby, affordable, and they have one of the best animation programs in the country for public schools. At CSUF, they have some really cool clubs and programs that would open a lot of doors for me as well. At Legacy, I’ve become more confident in my skills to advertise myself and network which is really important. In the entertainment industry, its a lot of “who you know not what you know” so having those skills to advertise myself will be invaluable. Overall, I’m nervous but excited. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens but I am taking a lot of risks with my choice of industry.

Hi my name is Aksel and I’m a senior here at Legacy. I plan to attend college after high school and major in engineering. My dream college is USC, because I think it has a cool campus and it has amazing curriculum. I learned a lot of entrepreneurship skills from my time here at LMA, so I’ll carry that with me into the future. I'm feeling good about my future and I’m ready to see where it takes me. In 10 years I see myself working as a mechanical engineer making money.

Our Legacy Middle School Robotics Teams competed at their first tournament at the San Diego Fall Middle School Tournament held last Saturday at Otay Ranch High School in Chula Vista CA. There were a total of 22 teams competing and Legacy took seven of the top twelve awards! Even better, two Legacy Teams, 393V and 393W, have already qualified to move on to states!

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) program at Legacy Magnet Academy is running its very first Student Business Leadership Summit on November 4th. From 8:00 AM - 12:30 AM, students will have the ability to participate in one of 3 business-oriented events: World Economic Forum, World Trade Organization, and Shark Tank. Whether you’re a middle school student seeking opportunities to learn about elements part of the heart of LMA, or a senior in high school looking for something to add onto your resume, the summit provides it all. For any students interested in the Summit, visit the QR code & website on the poster.

The students of the LMA FBLA program have taken the initiative to organize and plan an entire event focused on Leadership, Business Management, and Public Speaking for all students of Legacy! For anyone interested, LMA FBLA will be having an interest meeting on 10/19 at Mrs Zechiel's room (2-125). We welcome and encourage all Legacy students to compete.

In collaboration with our TUSD high schools, we are hosting another amazing parent workshop! The topic is Vaping Prevention, and it will be facilitated by Orange County Department of Education. Parents will learn what vaping and marijuana is, how these substances affect the teen brain and body, how to talk to your kids about tobacco, vaping, and marijuana, and tips and resources to help prevent tobacco, vaping, and marijuana use. Join us for this 1-hour workshop on Tuesday, 10/24/23, from 5:30pm-6:30pm (virtual - Zoom). Parents, click HERE for more information! Legacy Magnet Academy's Red Cross chapter will be hosting Legacy's first blood drive in November. Their goal is 200 units of blood, so please sign up if you are interested in donating to help reach that goal and save a life. We are encouraging parents, juniors/seniors, teachers, and community members to donate and spread the word. You can sign up at bit.ly/RedCrossDonor1. Today we had our second RISE Pop-Up shop of the year! RISEtastic students used their RISE Tickets to purchase yummy snacks, fun treats, and LMA swag. Stay tuned for more RISE Pop-Ups and remember to show RISE traits to earn those tickets!

Congratulations to Peyton Tan, our September TIDEPool Tutor of the month! Peyton is one of our LMAzing Math tutors, but he also supports students in all aspects of our academic subjects. Make sure to congratulate Peyton if you see him at TIDEPool Tutoring!

TIDEPool tutoring takes place every Tuesday during Point Break! Middle school students can head to the downstairs commons to seek help from our experienced high school tutors. Tutoring starts at 2:05 and ends at 2:55 - we can’t wait to see you at the TIDEPool!

Tonight on Friday the 13th, LMA is getting SCARY with the mo! We hope our seniors have a fa-BOO-lous time making memories in our amphitheater! There will be FREE popcorn, cookies, and hot chocolate; ASB will also be selling candy! Don’t forget to bring blankets to stay warm, as well as any other food/snacks for the movie! We will be looking forward to more spooktacular events in the future!

Hey boo-tiful! From October 16th through the 27th, we will be selling Boo Grams at the TIDE Shack! Students can buy Boo Grams for $1 each, and on Halloween they will be delivered to your special ghoul friends in their 4th period class!

On October 19th and 20th during lunch, we will be having our annual Fall Athlete Volleyball Tournament! On Thursday the games will be played on the basketball courts, and on Friday the championship game will be held in the gym! Make sure to come out and support LMA’s Fall athletes! No food is allowed in the gym, so remember to finish your lunch before coming to watch the championship game.

In October we wear PINK! October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. In honor of all the Breast Cancer Warriors, every Friday will be Teal, Steel, and PINK day! Show your support for those affected by Breast Cancer and make sure to wear your Legacy swag with some pink flair!

BOO! Stop by LMA on Sunday, October 29th from 3-5pm for a fun Trunk-or-Treating experience! Our annual Trunk or Treat Club fundraiser will be hosted in the LMA parking lot. Entry is free and all community members are welcomed! Even though entry is free, we highly encourage you to bring money to buy food and support LMA’s Clubs! The MoBites food truck will be there, along with some fun games and yummy candy!

¡Vamos a celebrar! On Friday, the Afro-Latinx Union offered DELICIOUS Mexican elote and candy near the middle school lunch area. ¡GOLAZO! They also held a soccer juggling contest and the winner received candy!
