This Week at Windsor...

Thank you to all who were able to attend Curriculum Night this week! It was so great to see so many families in attendance! I hope you all enjoy your long weekend, we will see you on Wednesday next week.

The district is in great need of crossing guards, if you or someone you know is interested in being a crossing guard, please have them go to our employment section on the district website to apply. Or you can have them reach out to me at, lanastacio@sd25.org and I will help them get started.

Windsor alum, Stella Fitzpatrick, is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award which is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn! It takes years of planning to complete, and it needs to be done by high school graduation. We are so excited to be partnering with Stella on Project Pen Pal! Please see the flyer below for the opportunity to be a part of Stella's amazing project! More information to come!

Arrival and Dismissal-

Drop and go on Windsor Drive and the front circle has been moving nicely.

Just a few reminders:

- Walkers, please only cross at the crosswalk.

-Please do not turn around in neighbor's driveways, go around the block to get into the car line.

-Please pull all of the way up to the car in front of you, please have your child get out of the car independently and quickly. Children should not get out of the car on the street side, this is very unsafe.

-There are no pets allowed on school property, please keep all pets at home or in your car.

Hello Parents!

Welcome to the new school year! Below you will find bullets of important things to pay attention to:

--Please pack a change of clothes and extra masks in your child’s backpack--accidents happen!

--If your child shows symptoms of COVID: fever (100.4 or higher), headache, shortness of breath, new cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, muscle or body aches-- keep your all of your children home until the child with symptoms gets COVID tested and results are back.

--If your child is a CLOSE CONTACT of anyone with COVID, they must stay home and quarantine (with a person who is diagnosed with COVID for more than 15 min, in the classroom setting within 3 feet with mask or within 6 ft without a mask, outside of the classroom setting its within 6 feet masked or not). If that child develops symptoms while in quarantine, they must get tested with a PCR test.

Hello, and welcome back to Stella's Station. Every week, I'll share some type of STEM or Engineering activity that you can do at home with your family. This week's focus is Fall Fun! I love all the sights, sounds, and smells that fall brings - it's probably my favorite season! There are some great activities that you can do to celebrate fall with a STEM twist. The Homeschool Resource Blog has collected 10 fun fall activities that you could start this weekend and do all fall long! You can check it out HERE. If you do any of these activities, I've love to hear how it went! Or if you post them on Twitter, be sure to tag @windsorwildcats to show us all how things turned out. Have a great long weekend!

To avoid any interruption of class instruction please leave any forgotten student items on the blue cart in the foyer, place a post-it on the item with the student name and teacher. An email to your child's teacher would also be appreciated. Also, remind your child to check in the office in their grade level BLUE bin for any forgotten items.

Regarding our QR CODE for Student Sign In and Out; everything should be working properly now!

We have been passing out a lot of masks to students, be sure to have your child wear a mask to school every day. It is also helpful to have an extra one in their backpack just in case.

SHIELD TESTING | OPT-IN

District 25 is planning to begin the SHIELD testing program in our schools for the students who have opted-in on September 8, 2021. In order to opt-in for your child to participate in SHIELD testing, fill out this form and turn it into our front office..

The SHIELD Illinois saliva-based test developed by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), is able to detect COVID-19 and its variants in symptomatic, pre-symptomatic, and asymptomatic individuals. The Arlington Heights Park District runs a before and after school student supervision program at all District 25 Elementary Schools and they are in need of and currently hiring CAP supervisors/activity leaders!

Please note that students who choose to pack a meal from home are invited to take a bag with milk that will also contain a fruit, vegetable, and grain at no charge. If your child has food allergies or food intolerances, please work with them to identify what they can consume from this bag, should they decide to pick it up.

All of these bagged items will be wrapped. If a student chooses not to consume all items, those may be placed on a table in the eating area so as to not be wasted.

As a reminder, lunch is free this school year for all District 25 students.

We plan to continue our work with the American Heart Association this school year! Every week you will find a heart-healthy fact in my newsletter.

Sugary drinks often have lots of calories. By some estimates, to burn off the calories from one 12-ounce can of soda, a 75-pound child would need to ride a bicycle at a fast 1 pace for about 30 minutes. It could take a 150-pound adult about 25 minutes of walking at a moderate pace to burn off the same amount of calories.
