Fire Drill: On Wednesday afternoon, we successfully held our first Fire Drill in order to practice evacuation from the building and relocation to a safe place. We will continue to review and practice one safety drill each month. Our staff and Safety Committee are commended for their attention to these procedures and protocols.

Traffic and Parking: As we adjust to regular drop-off and pick-up procedures, please review the traffic and parking guidelines below for a safe and smooth arrival and dismissal at school each day.

Flow of Traffic: When you enter the driveway, please always pull your car all the way up to the circle. Safety Patrol students are available to help your children exit your vehicle so you do not have to get out. Children should only exit on the curb side. Please do not idle in the Fire Lane or where there are signs that indicate no parking. Only vehicles are allowed in the driveway and drop off circle.

Parking: There are several designated spaces in the side, back, and lower lots. These spots have been marked with signs. Please do not park in those spaces. If you are visiting school for a short amount of time, you can use any of the spots marked "Visitor". If you are staying for an extended period of time, please use a spot in the lower or back lots. There is no parking in the Fire Lane. We also have Handicapped Parking spots that are reserved only for vistors with tags.

We are excited to announce that Rowayton Academy will be returning this fall. A variety of courses will be offered Monday through Friday from 7:50am-8:50am. Look out for the descriptions on course offerings and information on registration on the PTA website at RowaytonPTA.org

Having a common language that carries the same meaning and outcome for every student is important for success. R.O.C.K.S. is an acronym for our five pillars of good character: responsibility, open mindedness, cooperation, kindness, and safety. This year Rowayton R.O.C.K.S. will be embedded in all lessons throughout the day as it outlines our goals for developing good character and social interaction. Students will visit R.O.C.K.S Road to place a gold star on their shark when they independently display any actions associated with R.O.C.K.S. Congratulations to students in Mrs. Cambareri's class for making their first of many visits to R.O.C.K.S. Road!

The Brien McMahon Athletic Department is inviting our school and community members to participate in a football-filled evening this fall. Our students will be able to experience a pre-game meet and greet with our school mascot, Brien McMahon, enter the field with the football team, and stand with the players and cheerleaders during the playing of the national anthem. In addition to the game, they will be treated to music from our award-winning marching band and their halftime show.

Families of students in Grades 1 and 2 received a set of three yellow cards with your child's name and teacher. These cards are to be used for pick up at dismissal. Please have the person picking up your child carry the yellow card and hold it up while in the line at dismissal. This only has to be used by adults picking up first graders at Door #25 or second graders at the front door. Please plan to start using your cards at dismissal on Tuesday, September 6. The yellow cards will help the dismissal process and will also help ensure safety as a person should only receive a card directly from the student's family. Please continue to enter dismissal updates and changes in Pick Up Patrol. Thank you for your continued support!
