Queen of Apostles School
Term 1 Week 3 - Thursday 16 February 2023
P&F Sundowner on the Green
The Welcome Back to School P&F Sundowner for all families will be on tomorrow, Friday February 17.
The sundowner is on the new grassed area beginning at 5.30pm. It promises to be a great way for our families to get together and start the new school year. So get your picnic rugs ready for what will be a great evening.
Parking
I have recently been contacted by local residents who are concerned about members of our community parking on verges which have ‘No Parking’ signs. They have informed me that have contacted the council about this issue and rangers will be patrolling the area.
I ask that for the safety of our community that you not park in these areas during drop off and pick up times otherwise you may find a parking infringement notice on your car when you return.
COVID
The COVID portal used last year to report confirmed cases is being shut down by CEWA. If your child does test positive to COVID please let us know when you report their absence. We also ask that you keep them home for 5 days after testing positive to minimise the spread and keep our school safe and open.
Ash Wednesday
Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent and a time when we begin to prepare for Jesus’ great self-sacrifice on Good Friday and then his resurrection on Easter Sunday. We look during this time of Lent for ways that we can show self-sacrifice. People like to give up sweets or cool drink for Lent. Personally, I like to give up my time to help others that need it. What will your Lenten promises be?
I invite everyone in our community to our Ash Wednesday Mass (22nd Feb) at 9am in the church. I thank Ms Lesque and the Year 3 class who will be leading us in this Mass.
Faction Swimming Carnival
Next Thursday our Faction Swimming Carnival for our Year 4 to 6 students will be held at Beatty Park Leisure Centre in North Perth. The students will depart from school at 9.45am and return to Queen of Apostles by 2.00pm.
It will be fantastic to see a great crowd of parents at Beatty Park cheering our students on. If you can help on the day, please contact Mr B.
Pupil Free Day
Please remember that Friday March 3rd is a Pupil Free Day. Our staff will be working on our Future Focussed Learning.
Monday March 6th is also a public holiday (Labour Day) so you will have an extra-long weekend to enjoy with your family.
