7th grade College Fieldwork
Crew to College Campus Visits!
Hi all,
As you may know last week the 7th grade participated in college fieldwork as a part of our 6-12 crew to college programming. Students spread out across the city visiting York College, College of Staten Island, Medgar Evers, and Bronx Community College.
Students had a great time visiting and exploring these colleges. They saw science and robotics labs, dance studios, classrooms and more. They also all got to eat lunch in the campus dining hall getting a taste of what campus life can be.

Why Early College Awareness programs are important:
- They provide students with the solid foundation they need to successfully navigate the college process in their later years of high school, when the concept of college is introduced as early as middle school and developed each year.
- Students are more likely to attend college if they "connect the dots earlier" make the connections between work in middle school and high school to college and career paths.
- Encourages students and families to talk & build a "college going" culture earlier as they discuss future plans and support our school mission of, "full participation in civic life." and all students being college ready.
