Spanish Dept. Trip to Costa Rica
There will be an informational meeting about the Spanish department trip to Costa Rica over Spring Break 2024 for parents and students on Tuesday, May 23, in C250 at 6:00 pm. Please contact Ms. Harens if you have any questions.

Our trip will be traveling to Berlin, Prague, and Krakow. We will be seeing history through multiple centuries including a lot of 20th century history sites.

Peer tutoring is available on Wednesdays in the Learning Commons after school! Math peer tutors will be available from 2:30-3:30. You can get support for math homework- bring your questions or assignments to work on with a peer tutor and/or small group.

New: Hello, Senior Parents of the Class of 2023!
We will be celebrating our seniors on Friday June 2, 2023 starting with a senior breakfast before graduation rehearsal! We are looking for donations for this event to help send our seniors off and celebrate all of their accomplishments.
All seniors are encouraged to join the celebration. The senior breakfast will be hosted from 8:00am to 9:15am at the West Student Entrance, before graduation rehearsal. In the event of rain, we will move the senior breakfast indoors.
Please review the available slots to view all of the donation opportunities available Eastview 2023 Senior Breakfast. Donations can be left with our security office staff. Please drop off your donation by Wednesday May 31st.

The Senior Party is looking for volunteers to help with the Friday setup, Sunday tear down, and the night of the party. We have a lot of opportunities to help with being a casino dealer, supervising the different entertainment areas, taking pictures of seniors throughout the night, nurses, check in/out the students or volunteers. Casino Dealer training takes place either Tuesday May 23rd or Tuesday May 30th at 6PM at Eastview High School. If you sign up to be a Casino Dealer you must attend 1 of these training sessions.
Adults of underclassmen: Please sign up to be in the school on Saturday (3PM-9PM, 2-hour shifts) to keep an eye on the party setup so the adults of our graduating seniors can enjoy all things related to graduation. The customary passing of the baton on the graduation overnight party is the Junior parents tearing down the event Sunday (2AM-8AM, 2-hour shifts). It's a great way to get an idea of what you'll be planning and working on in just one year! Senior Party Tickets Are Still Available
Graduating seniors are invited to attend the 2023 All-Night Senior Party, a chemical free, lock-in which takes place the night of graduation, Saturday June 3rd, 2023 from 10:00 pm – 4:00am at EVHS.
Each year the All-Night Senior Party is a highlight for the graduating seniors with at least 80% of the class attending. This is an “Everything Included” night of fun! Entertainment, Food, Prizes, Games, Casino, and MORE! It is the place to be on graduation night!

New: Required Class of 2023 Future Plans Survey in Naviance
All seniors must complete the ‘EVHS Class of 2023 Future Plans Survey’ in their Naviance account. The survey is important as it will be used for awards/graduation recognition and reporting of their plans for next year. The completed survey is part of earning senior opportunities.

New: Final High School Transcript
All colleges require a final high school transcript with a senior’s graduation date before enrolling. Seniors must request to send their final transcript by noon on June 7th to the college, university, or program they will be attending in the fall.

Sessions are scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EXCEPT for the joint sessions held by the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, which run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The 22 colleges and universities of Minnesota State will waive application fees during "Minnesota State Week," scheduled for June 26-30, 2023. If you are a senior who hasn't decided what your plans are for after graduation, it's an excellent time to explore one or more of the 54 campuses that are part of Minnesota State.

UPCOMING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY VISITS
Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. These university/college or military visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.

Senior Athletic Recognition Ceremony - Sunday, May 21
Our 2023 Senior Athlete Recognition Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the EVHS Main Gym.
This evening is a celebration where we will recognize the following students and awards:
-Senior Letter Winners from all MSHSL and District Sponsored Club Athletic teams
-Senior Lightning Award Winners
-Seniors who were part of a Team or Individual State Qualifier in their Senior Year
-Summa Cum Laude Graduates who also lettered in at least one sport as a Senior
-Three Sport Letter Winners for students who lettered in Three MSHSL Sports OR District Sponsored Club Athletic teams as a Senior
-Athletic Department and Outside Sponsor Recognition Awards (Student and Scholar Athlete of the Year, AAA Awards etc.)
-ALL of our athletes planning on competing in collegiate athletics
Whether a student is attending the ceremony or not, we would appreciate as many Senior Athlete RSVPs as possible so we can gather accurate information as well as plan for seating arrangements and refreshments. For students competing in collegiate athletics we will be doing a photo opportunity of each student signing along with an introduction of each Senior who is planning on competing in Collegiate Athletics. Valley Images will take photos of each athlete as well as each athlete with their family. We are encouraging everyone who is attending to wear either apparel from the school they will be attending next year (regardless of planned athletic participation) OR apparel from an athletic program you participated in at EVHS.
We anticipate the ceremony taking approximately 90 minutes and a short reception with water and cookies will immediately follow. Jim Carroll, the voice of Lightning Football, several MSHSL State Tournaments as well as professional sports teams will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. We are very excited for this opportunity to showcase the incredible accomplishments of so many talented student-athletes at Eastview!

We are looking for incoming 8th -12th graders to tryout for our fun and exciting Varsity Competition Cheer Team at Eastview High School. We are looking for both male and female participants.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. You will be surprised on what you can do. So, come out and give it a try.

GIRLS GOLF
EVHS Girls golfers had a win on Friday the 12th at Emerald Greens. The girls brought home the Dakota County Invite trophy for the 3rd year in a row. Emma Lai took 2nd shooting a one over par 73. Megan Young took 4th with a 76, Addison Schafer took 5th with an 80, Serafina Swans shot an 85 and took 9th. Other contributors were Elara Egner with an 88 and Abby McDevitt with a 96. Good luck to the girls as they head to Bunker Hills this week.
GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL
Lightning Beat Blaze 16-3, May 16
Lightning bats were firing on all cylinders tonight putting up 16 runs. The Blaze battled back in the 3rd and 4th innings putting up 3 runs. Eastview ended with 13 hits, a home run by Braaten and a grand slam by Kuhn.
Eastview Falls Game 1 of DH, 7-4, May 12
The Lightning were the home team in Game 1 of the Friday night double header. They scored first early on, but couldn't hold on to the lead. Eastview outhit Shakope 7-3, but lost by a score of 4-7.
Sabers beat Lightning 9-1, May 9
The Lightning couldn't find an answer going down 4-1 in the 2nd inning. Eastview stranded 9 runners on base. Final score 9-1.
DAKOTA HAWKS
Monday, the Hawks Varsity Softball team finished their first ever in Hawk’s history a perfect season as they defeated South Washington by a score of 11-1 in 5 innings. Timely hits along with some solid defense secured the win for the Hawks. The team will enter the State tournament as the #1 seed with our 8 wins 0 losses. Congratulations on a great regular season as the team looks forward to continued success at State.
CLUB SPORTS
Boys Volleyball
The Lightning Varsity and JV team both finished 2nd in their tournament this weekend.
Varsity went 2 and 1 in pool play, qualifying them for the final four of the tournament. In the semifinals against a top rated Eden Prairie squad, the Bolts came out hot and never looked back beating the Eagles soundly in straight sets. The Lightning then fell in a great match with tournament host St. Paul Johnson.
JV went 3 and 0 in pool play, putting them into the semifinals. After winning their semifinal match, the Lightning lost a back and forth battle…losing the deciding set 13-15.
Both teams are home Tuesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 18 this week. JV at 6pm and varsity immediately after around 7:15 pm.
ARTS, ACTIVITIES & CLUBS
New: Spanish Club Meeting - Tonight, 5/17
Spanish Club will meet at 2:45 on Wednesday, May 17th. A group of musicians from the top jazz band in the school will hold a casual end of the year concert. It’s going to be a fun way to end the year with a bit of music and history. Invite all your friends! We’ll see you in the band room.

New: Last Climate Action Club Meeting, 5/18
The last meeting of the climate action club will be held this Thursday at 2:35 pm in C337. Weather permitting, we will go out to the pond and clean it up. Bad weather, we will celebrate the year and what we can do next year!
New: Speech Team Results - National Individual Events Tournament of Champions
This weekend, qualified members of the Eastview Speech Team competed at the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions, a traveling tournament held this year at Chanhassen High School. The Eastview Speech Team had a stellar performance: Eastview was named the Act II Sweepstakes Champion (given to the school that had the best performance of all schools that were "medium sized" at the tournament.) Overall, Eastview placed 5th when compared to the large schools that were in attendance.
Three entries advanced to the final round of competition. Special congratulations to:

Congratulations to our team for such an incredible performance! Eastview Speech has two tournaments remaining this year: The National Catholic League Grand National Tournament (held in Louisville, Kentucky over Memorial Day weekend) and the National Speech and Debate Association National Speech and Debate Tournament (held in Phoenix, Arizona the first full week after the school year is over.)
J-Club Meeting 5/18

Latin Student Association Meeting 5/18

Eastview Band Concerts - May 22 and May 25
Eastview Bands are celebrating a year of music making in TWO Spring band concerts.
Varsity Band (all 9th grade students) and Concert Band will present their concert on Monday, May 22nd at 7PM in the EVHS Performing Arts Center. Saxophone Choir will also be featured on the Monday evening concert.
Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony will perform three days later on Thursday, May 25th, also at 7PM in the EVHS Performing Arts Center.
Varsity Band students must report to the PAC stage at 6:00 on Monday the 22nd. Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony members should report to the band area at 6:30 PM on the night of their performances. All concerts will begin at 7PM and will last between 60 and 90 minutes.
All Concerts are Free!
EVHS Esports Team
Come join EVHS esports! Esports is a group of peers all connected by a shared passion for video games. All people are welcome regardless of skill. The team meets every other Tuesday in C130 from 2:30 to 4:00. We invite you to play games with us, use our gaming computers, and make new friends with similar interests.
