What is Leader in Me?
PCM is proud to be a Leader in Me School. Leader in Me is an evidence-based PK-12 model, developed in partnership with educators and designed to designed to build leadership in students, create a high-trust culture, and improve academic achievement.
Leader in Me focuses on developing the whole child by:
- Teaching leadership to every student.
- Creating a culture of student empowerment.
- Aligning systems to drive results in academics.
Leader in Me uses two frameworks to create and grow a leadership school:
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People helps us learn and apply leadership skills and gives us a common language for building a supportive school environment.
- The 4 Disciplines of Execution helps us to identify, track, and achieve academic and personal Wildly Important Goals (WIGs).
What does Leader in Me look like at school?
PCM Middle School students will focus on Leader in Me during their Advisory period at the end of each day. The discussion-based lessons are based on the 7 Habits. and focus on growth mindset, coping skills, perseverance, empathy, and self-understanding. As the school year progresses, students will begin to take on leadership roles within our school.

What can families do at home to help students?
Each month, we will send a newsletter, highlighting what students are learning at school so you can talk with your students about Leader in Me and how they are developing leadership habits. We'll also include table topics you can use to encourage Leader in Me discussions at home. This could be during dinner, in the car, or anytime you find is a good time to connect with your student.
What next?
Starting in October, our students will learn about Habit 1: Be Proactive. The picture on the right gives a quick overview of the skills students will learn. Look for more information in next month's newsletter.
