The Borromeo Bulletin #45
Home of the Bobcats: October 23rd
Thoughts from Dr. Voelkl...
Thank you to Father Eddie for celebrating our FIRST all school Mass with us this morning. We were grateful for the opportunity to gather and pray together as a school community on the Feast of St. John Paul II.
Upon our return from Fall Break we are looking forward to celebrating the Feast Day of St. Charles Borromeo on Thursday, November 4th. Our day will begin with an all school mass for students in grades K - 8 during which time our first grade students will come dressed as Saints. Following Mass each class will take turns walking to various historical sites related to the history of our Church and school. PLEASE see the attached permission slip below. We ask that each family print one copy of this permission slip per child and send in with each individual child on Tuesday.
We will be sending out conference sign-up links the first week of November. As a reminder conferences are scheduled for the evenings of November 22nd and 23rd. Our virtual format last year was a big hit and well liked by both families and teachers. For that reason we do plan to continue that format with the exception of preschool. We LOVE growing and learning with ALL of our students and look forward to sharing information related to each child's celebrations, strengths and opportunities for growth with our families. IOWA test scores will be sent home with all students in grade 3-7 the week of conferences. 8th grade students will receive them upon their return from fall break due to the high school admissions time line.
We wish all of you A WONDEFUL FALL BREAK filled with lots of rest and great memory making ~
Warmest blessings,
Dr. Voelkl

HEALTH UPDATES
As shared at the beginning of the year, we are continuing to evaluate our current mask policy. Evaluating from our end means reading all updates sent and provided by the Saint Charles County Health Department, watching all webinars shared by University systems throughout the state related to case numbers and current protocols, consulting with a team of Saint Charles Borromeo parents working in the health field in various capacities, consulting with school administration at other Catholic schools throughout our region, monitoring policies and procedures of other public school districts throughout our region, and talking / collaborating with the St. Louis Archdiocese administrative staff and school nurse partnership through Cardinal Glennon.
At this time we believe it is still in our best interest to maintain a mandatory mask policy. We WILL reevaluate again just prior to our Thanksgiving Break to determine if a change is necessary or should be made at that time. We understand that while students are masked at school there are other times during which they are gathered outside of school and not masked. Within our school walls we are still bound by current health department guidelines which come with much stricter quarantine regulations in masked vs. unmasked situations. Our goal is to keep students safe, healthy and IN SCHOOL. The other preschool - 8th grade Catholic schools and public schools within our area are maintaining their mask policy at this time as well.
We remain GRATEFUL for your support and prayers as we strive to stay educated and up to date on these health matters while also maintaining our focus on providing a high quality education for all of our students.
