We are now 1/2 way through February. If you haven't checked out all of the March activities yet, please do so. It will be another busy month at our school! You can read about 4 of the events in this newsletter.

School Spirt Day - TOMORROW!
Our next School Spirit Day is tomorrow...Friday, Feb 16.
It is "Dress Like Your Favorite Book Character" Day!
We can't wait to see all of the fun creations students & staff come up with! Thank you to our PTA for organizing School Spirit Days.
NO SCHOOL NEXT WEEK
Next week is Winter Break! NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS & STAFF.
All district buildings are closed on Monday (Presidents' Day).
The School Office will be open portions of Tuesday-Friday. If you want to stop by, please call or email ahead of time in case Tracy is not in the office due to training, etc. The inside front doors will be locked.
Lester Park Grandparents' Day
On Thursday, March 7th, we will have the Lester Park Grandparents' Day where grandparents and special friends of students will be invited to visit the school. The event will be held during the morning during specific times designated by grade. These times will be published soon.
Cookies will be provided by our wonderful Lester Park PTA.
We will have volunteers around the building making sure our guests can find the classrooms. If you would like to volunteer, please email tracy.thompson@isd709.org.
Due to the large amount of people expected, we will again have overflow parking at the One Life Community Church located at 51st Ave E & Glenwood St. Unfortunately the bus shuttle will not begin until after 8:45am due to bus driver shortages.

2024-25 Kindergarten
Do you have a child(ren) who will be attending kindergarten at Lester Park Elementary this fall?
Do you have a neighbor, friend or relative who does?
If yes to either of these questions, then here is information we would like to share with you...
- We will be having our 2024-25 Kindergarten Meet & Greet from 4pm-6pm on March 21.

- Registration is open for the 2024-25 School Year, click HERE to enroll your child.
- Registration information will be mailed out to the families of our future Kindergarteners in a couple of weeks. Want to make sure we know about your child & have all the correct information? Click this online form: 2024-25 Kindergarten Contact Information
- Besides the online registration, we will also need a residence and birth verification. You can find out more information about this in our Family Letter that will be in the Kindergarten mailing.
SCHOOL SPRING CARNIVAL - March 22
Lester Park PTA Spring Carnival
4:30pm-7:30pm, March 22
Bring the family to enjoy face painting, cotton candy, food, games, bounce houses and more. Sponsored by the Lester Park PTA!
Lots of information to know about the event...
Tickets & Food:
- Pre-sale information will be sent home after Winter Break.
- Tickets will also be sold the night of for 3/$1.
- Games vary from 1 to 4 tickets, Cotton candy will be 9 tickets.
- CASH ONLY! No exceptions.
- There will be a variety of food for sale. CASH ONLY!
VOLUNTEER:
We say it a lot, but it is SO TRUE. These events cannot happen without support from the community. Volunteer with your friends, kids (all ages) and family!!

IMPORTANT CLUB NOTES:
- Click HERE for the link in the flyer.
- There is more club information in the online form.
- Registration Deadline is March 1st.
- Students are chosen through a lottery process.
- Classes will be held in our Art Room.
- Students sign up for 1 day a week.
- Times are set by grade level (1st session starts at 3:15pm).
- Parents will receive an email by Monday, March 4th to confirm if their child was selected in the lottery.
- Make checks out to the "Lester Park Foundation" and send to school (collected in the office) after receiving confirmation that your child was selected.

Yearbook Deadline Approaching
- You may order them online at https://ybpay.lifetouch.com and use school ID code: 10952324.
- Order forms went home last month with students. You can view the digital copy HERE.
- Ordering online prevents lost order forms! Plus there are more options available online!
- Order Deadline is March 8.
- Standard softcover yearbooks are $20. You can upgrade to a hardcover for $5 more.
- Check should be made payable to LESTER PARK SCHOOL
- Yearbooks will be distributed after Memorial Day. A limited number of extra yearbooks will be available at this time on a "first come, first served" basis, and sometimes sell out.

What do I do if my child is going to be absent from school?
Email lesterattendance@isd709.org (the office & nurse will both see these emails)
or call attendance line 336-8875 then “3” to leave a recorded message
Please list specific symptoms, especially: fever (and how high), sore throat, cough, vomiting and/or diarrhea.
Teachers may have a preferred way for you to report an absence to them.
If the office does not know why a student is absent, an automated phone call and an email message will be sent out at sometime between 8:30-9:00. This is for safety reasons.
