Thank You to Mr. Tippett
Why does our school look brighter? It's thanks to Ritchie Tippett who replaced our lightbulbs during the summer. And if that wasn't enough, he donated them too. Thanks for shining your love on FAW Ritchie!

Parent Plus Portals
Earlier this year, all new families should have received an e-mail with instructions to log in to PlusPortals to view student progress/grades and other school information. If you have any questions about the Portal or did not receive your login information, please contact Mrs. Greer at fawscomputer@fatherandrewwhite.org. Please note: No scores will be posted for students in grades PK-3. Please check your child’s folder for returned work with marks/teacher feedback.
Middle School Info. Night and HSA Parent Meeting
This Thursday, Sept. 30th, we will have a Middle School Information Night from 6:15 - 7pm. Immediately following at 7pm, we will host our first HSA Parent Meeting. Come early and enjoy pizza and socializing before the meeting. All families in attendance will be awarded 1 hour of volunteer service. Used uniforms will also be available that night! Unfortunately we decided that we will not be offering babysitting during the event due to the renewed concern about the rising rates of COVID-19 in St. Mary's County.

FAW Destination Imagination Club
FAW Crusader Cup
Friday, October 15th at Breton Bay -- has filled our golf team max at the course. Thank you for the support and sponsorship. We sell out every year earlier and earlier. There are a few teams on the wait list that we are hoping to get in. Sometimes local companies sponsor the event for name recognition and then can't get players to fill their team. Our committee will work hard to make it a win-win situation for all.
We are looking for families and companies to support through our Marketing Sponsorship Opportunities. Please see the flyer for more details. Thank you for your time and consideration.
SCRIP Program
Service Scholarship Families - Please complete this form. It only takes 30 seconds!!
SCRIP Gift Card Fundraiser: FAW purchases gift cards at a discounted rate and sells them at face value, generating revenue for the school. Participation in our SCRIP gift card fundraiser is mandatory for all service scholarship families (those families who accept reduced tuition in exchange for volunteer hours).
Each family is required to earn $50 in profit for our school. This will likely require the purchase of $1,000 to $1,500 in gift cards which can be used for everyday purchases. After earning $50 in rebates for the school, a participating family may designate a portion of the remaining rebates to be used as a credit to a student’s tuition account (tuition assistance), a credit to an 8th grader’s end of year trip, or a donation to the school. We maintain a large inventory of retailers, including local grocery stores, restaurants and clothing retailers and can order gift cards for hundreds more retailers. If you choose not to participate in the fundraiser or you do not meet the minimum requirement, you will be required to send in the difference in May 2022.
All Service Scholarship Families... please complete the form below!
Band is Back!
Ms. Etter is looking forward to having band in person this year. We will have safety guidelines in place, with distancing, and musicians masks. We will start the year with group lessons (on Thursdays), but no after school band. Students in grades 4-8 are welcome to participate. Please email Ms. Etter at kimetter@comcast.net to let her know your child is interested!
Substitute Teachers Needed!
We are looking for cheerful and positive parents and community members who would be available 7:30am - 2:45pm to substitute for teachers as needed throughout the year. Approved applicants who pass a criminal background check can use this for volunteer hours or to receive payment. If you are interested please contact Mrs. Szoch at principal@fatherandrewwhite.org for a substitute application and information about what days you would be available.

New to Volunteering at FAW?
Child Protection Volunteer Requirements: For our new families and as a reminder for our returning families, don’t forget the archdiocesan requirements for anyone who wishes to volunteer for activities that involve interaction with our children (ex. coaching, classroom or cafeteria helper, chaperone on field trips, etc.). The Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection Policy requires volunteers in parishes and schools to set up an account at virtus.org, complete a volunteer application, get fingerprints taken, and attend a (virtual) training session on the Child Protection Policy. Upon completion of the training session, the last page in the policy book must be signed and returned to the school office. No one may volunteer with our children until the entire process is completed. Families that need to start this process in order to volunteer for activities involving our children, may visit our website HERE for step by step instructions.
We encourage all our families to complete the online volunteer opportunity form to learn more about and show your interest for our events this year. We are looking for 100% participation in completing this form.
FAW Golf Tournament Planning Committee
We are looking for a few great go getters and make it happen teammates. This team plans the logistics, pounds pavement to get sponsors + golfers, and hosts the day of the event. If you are interested in joining our Get-it-Done Committee, please email dawn@teamcarroll.com to sign up. We will be meeting virtually on Tuesdays from 6 to 7pm. Day of Event Volunteers - please email Julie Farasy at j_farasy@yahoo.com to sign up! Thank you!
Lunch Helpers
Email fawhotlunch@gmail.com about volunteering in the FAW kitchen with Mrs. Rutherford preparing hot lunch.
Playground Volunteers
Thank you so much to those who have already signed up to be recess monitors during the first quarter. We still need to fill open time slots. If you are available, please consider signing up. Your child will love to have you here!! Access the sign-up here. Please email fawnews@fatherandrewwhite.org to get your name on the sign up document.
Used Uniforms
Did you know FAW parent volunteers offer a used uniform program at FAW? If you need uniforms or have uniforms to donate, we have a new format! Beginning this year, New-To-You Uniforms will be set up at school events making this program available more frequently and on a first-come-first-find basis. Pass on this blessing to others by donating your child’s used uniforms (unstained & washed, please). Donating is easy – bring uniforms with you to school events, drop off right at the New-To-You Uniform Tables or in the “Used Uniform” green bin right in the school’s vestibule. This is an amazing program FAW offers to all families at no cost. Save money, practice good stewardship, pass along blessings, prevent textile waste, the list of benefits is endless.
Does your FAW middle-school student need service hours? We would love to help your student(s) sign up to work New-To-You Uniform tables at school events. Students will sort incoming uniforms and provide parent support in filling uniform requests. It’s a great opportunity to grow social skills, serve others, provide proactive facilitation, and practice professional conversation. Please contact Sheli Laney sheli.laney@live.com or Melanie Chadwick Chadwickmm207@yahoo.com if your child would like to volunteer for any upcoming school event in which the used uniform program will be present.
Want to do even more for the used uniform program? We desperately need large totes and a gently used portable hanging rack. Please consider donating these items to help us further organize this effort.
